There have been a lot of discussions about the proposed data centers not only in Cumberland Co., but across PA. What do the data say about these centers and their impact on our aquatic resources? Penn State Extension has two FREE webinars in the next couple of months to help provide you with the current research.

The first webinar is on Nov. 19: Water Cooler Talk: Data Centers and Water Resources (Explore how hyperscale data centers impact water use, energy, and infrastructure, and discover solutions for smarter, sustainable digital growth.) https://extension.psu.edu/water-cooler-talk-data-centers-and-water-resources

The second one is on Dec. 11: Data Centers in Pennsylvania - Why Here? Why Now? (Explore why Pennsylvania is a prime location for data centers, addressing benefits, concerns, and opportunities for communities, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.) https://extension.psu.edu/data-centers-in-pennsylvania-why-here-why-now

Explore how hyperscale data centers impact water use, energy, and infrastructure, and discover solutions for smarter, sustainable digital growth.

Unfortunately, we've had to cancel this event. We hope to reschedule in 2026.

Some of you may have been planning to attend our shrub planting in Mechanicsburg this day. Since that is postponed, we suggest supporting another great, local group, Restore the Wittlinger, helping to restore native habitat. ๐ŸŒณ

We're looking forward to our tree planting event on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 27th, from 9am-11am. Bring shovels and gloves; long sleeves and pants are recommended. Meet us at the pool bridge. We hope you can attend!

If you are not able to join us for the tree planting but would like to help somehow, we need volunteers to keep the newly planted trees and shrubs watered. Teams of 3-4 people will make the task easier as you will need to haul buckets of water from the race to the planting area. Buckets will be provided. Thanks!
