4th grade is already off to an incredible start! 🎒✨

Between our first day of school pictures, a tricky STEM team building challenge (building the longest chain with only two pieces of paper!), and testing how natural forces affect rocks in science. There has been lots of discovery, teamwork, and learning new routines taking place. Check out these snapshots from our first few weeks! 👇

Our 4th graders in Mrs. Tyler-Pickens’ classroom are getting hands-on with Earth science! 🔬✨

Students investigated how natural materials and forces commonly found around rocks—moving water, ice, air, and plants—interact with rock and can change the Earth’s surface over time. 🌊🧊💨🌱

Through observation, investigation, and teamwork, our young scientists are discovering how the world around them is constantly changing!

We love watching our students ask questions, investigate, and learn like real scientists! 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬🪨💙

🪨🔎 Learning About Rock Layers in 4th Grade! 🔎🪨

Our 4th graders in Mrs. Tyler-Pickens’ classroom have been digging deep into the past while studying how rock layers formed! 🌎📚

Students had the opportunity to work collaboratively in groups to create and study Layers F–A, from oldest to youngest. Each group was assigned a different layer and became fossil detectives! 🦴🔍 They researched the fossils found within their assigned layer and then drew those fossils to help bring the history of the Earth to life.

We love seeing our students work together, think like scientists, and learn through hands-on experiences! 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬✨

Way to go, 4th grade! 💙🪨
