Without a doubt, institutes of higher learning are perfectly aligned to help their students learn about and achieve financial wellness by offering a financial wellness program. While such programs should focus on helping students understand the impact of student loans, they can also provide these young adults with the needed education to make wise financial decisions throughout the rest of their lives.

Unless you measure the success of your financial wellness program, you will never know if the program is really helping your students.

As the presidential election goes into full swing, we are likely to hear many proposals about tuition-free college and more money for federal grant programs but we aren't likely to hear a serious discussion about graduate school debt.

The Center for American Progress hopes to change that by addressing the issues that affect the cost of graduate school and the subsequent loans taken by students pursuing these degrees. In addition to their suggestions to lower grad school debt, offering a student financial wellbeing program can help students assess the need for debt and determine if the benefits outweigh the costs.
