Remember that feeling of a close-knit community you experienced as a student at Colorado Rocky Mountain School? Well, it would be truly wonderful for you to continue to be an involved and connected part of the CRMS family. This page is designed to keep alumni informed about CRMS today to maintain that special connection with the school community. Whether you live down the road from campus or across the globe, any student who attended CRMS for one full year is considered an alumnus of Colorado Rocky Mountain School.

🚵 Zeeland Bowers '26 and Finn McDermott '26 had an incredible weekend of racing at the Fort Lewis Squawker Collegiate Bike Race in Durango!

🏆 Zeeland, racing for Western Colorado University, finished 1st in the Men’s Cat 1/2 Short Track and 3rd in the Men’s Cat 1/2 Cross Country.

🏆 Finn, racing for Fort Lewis College, took 1st place both Saturday and Sunday in the Men’s Pro/Cat 1 Enduro.

Congratulations to Zeeland and Finn on a fantastic weekend of racing! We love seeing CRMS alumni continuing to compete, adventure, and thrive beyond CRMS. 🚵‍♂️👏

🛶 Auretta Manzanares '30, Stephanie Kassels '97, and Kayla Manzanares '96 point to the CRMS pennant now hanging in the 96 year-old Conlon Lodge at Camp Belknap in New Hampshire. Stephanie and her husband run the camp on Lake Winnipesaukee and Kayla and Auretta have been working there the past five summers.

Two CRMS alumni, Matthew Palomino '16 and Scout Engbring '16, have a concert Saturday, October 3rd in Carbondale! Their band, Western Medicine, is playing at Thunder River Theatre. They both played in the barn dozens of times during their tenure at CRMS. We're excited to see them return to the valley from L.A.

📍 Where in the world have you run into CRMS?

In 2024, Philipp Bunz '99 (pictured at right) spotted two very familiar hats at the curling lanes south of Munich, Germany. He introduced himself to two current families who were meeting for the first time: Lisa and Oliver Schein (parents of Tim Schein '26) and Marion Torge and Nick Wittek (parents of Finn Wittek '26). Proof that a CRMS hat is a great conversation starter, even 5,000 miles from Carbondale.

🛶 This weekend, the 2026 River Runners Hall of Fame Festival will induct Walter Kirschbaum, Roger Paris, and Ulrich Martins into the John Wesley Powell Museum’s River Runners Hall of Fame.

As part of the weekend’s events, CRMS will be mentioned in Kent Ford’s Friday evening presentation highlighting these three European kayaking pioneers, and again in the kayak exhibit on Saturday afternoon.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate river-running history and CRMS’s place in that story. Tickets are still available, and we’d love to see members of the CRMS community there!
