The School of Accountancy enjoyed a fantastic Welcome Back event last night, generously sponsored by Anders. It was a wonderful opportunity for students, faculty, and professionals to reconnect, meet new members of our community, and set a positive tone for the months ahead.

The energy, conversations, and engagement made it clear: we’re ready for a productive and inspiring semester. Thank you to Anders for supporting our students and helping us kick things off on such a high note.

Really enjoyed the Spring Banquet at 17th Street Warehouse tonight as we recognized our amazing students. The evening included the Beta Alpha Psi initiation of new members and presentation of cords to graduating members. We also recognized students who were awarded scholarships and ended the evening by congratulating all our graduating seniors and MAcc students. The ribbon-cutting celebration recognizes the leadership and vision of the SIU Foundation Board of Directors and honors the generosity of Roger and Sally Tedrick, SIU Foundation emeritus board members, and the many donors who made this project possible. The 44,000-square-foot facility is funded entirely through the SIU Foundation through a combination of reserves, fundraising and borrowing, with no taxpayer dollars, tuition revenue, student fees or state funds used.

👏 A huge thank‑you to our incredible VITA volunteers!
This tax season, our students — along with high school volunteers from Carterville and Carbondale — dedicated their Saturday mornings to serve the community, and their commitment made a real difference.

💼 185 taxpayers received free tax preparation and filing services thanks to their hard work, patience, and professionalism.

These volunteers showed what it truly means to lead with service: giving their time, using their skills, and stepping up when their community needed them. We are so proud of the impact they’ve made and the compassion they’ve shown.
