SIU Alumni Association Founded in 1896, the SIU Alumni Association is the largest and oldest organization at Southern Illinois University and proudly serves SIU alumni and friends.

SIU Homecoming is almost here! We're gearing up to welcome thousands of Salukis back to Carbondale for a weekend of music, traditions and celebration.

In Season 2, Episode 3 of The Impact Report, we preview this year's festivities with SIU Alumni Association Executive Director Molly Hudgins, City of Carbondale Tourism and Special Events Coordinator Dena Haun and Student Programming Council Homecoming Director Dylan Stemm. They share how SIU, students and the community are working together to make Homecoming bigger than ever. Last year's festival drew more than 8,000 attendees, and organizers hope to welcome 10,000 this year!

The celebration kicks off Friday, Oct. 16, with the 3rd Annual Homecoming Music Street Festival in downtown Carbondale, headlined by the Spin Doctors! The evening continues with the SIU Student After Party featuring multi-platinum recording artist KYLE.

The festival will also feature performances by North Mississippi Allstars, Cowboy Kyle of Urban Cowboy Line Dancing, Lucas Wayne & the Cottonmouths with City of Soul, and Johnny Rock-itt & The Double-Wide Symphony.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, the festivities continue with the Homecoming parade, tailgates and Saluki Football live on ESPN. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

Kicking off Homecoming weekend, the Salukis Build Here initiative is hosting an evening celebrating alumni-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and partnerships.

Join us Thursday, Oct. 15th, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Hangar 9 for an evening of connection, celebration, and entrepreneurial pride hosted by Southern Illinois Now, in collaboration with the SIU Alumni Association, SIU Foundation, City of Carbondale Government, and Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.

In the spring of 1951, students took a formal vote to change Southern Illinois University’s mascot from the Maroons to the Saluki. While the costumes have changed and the roles have evolved over the last 75 years, the person inside is taking on something bigger than themselves.
