This could be you...π
Networking doesn't have to be stuffy, do it over dinner! π²
We host "Dinner with 12" every year and it just gets better and better. Alumni (YOU!) volunteer to host a dinner some time in March which up to 12 current SIU students can sign up to attend.
...so what happens at the dinner? One heck of a good time! Students come loaded with questions about the specific industry you work in and they are eager to learn. You also get the chance to catch up on what's cool on campus.
Dinners are hosted either at your home or at a local restaurant, whichever suits you best!
Dinners are scheduled for March 1st or March 2nd, 2024. But hosts will need to register by December 15th!
Here's the registration link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=55h61U10-UO8kQjeH_NxDfqKqcCVgIZCulDPKTXXbV1URTFMNUExMkNZOUJYVDJBT1dNTlM1MjMyVC4u&fbclid=IwAR2uwxX0nHM8NRDorPRRiCNEpIjA9vQejuWBqpy-iYC8EcYbH86mAF5LrSg

You can always find a little luck at SIU if you know where to look ;)

Many of you know this walk all too well...πΆββοΈ
..crossing the concrete overpass from the towers to main campus is a rite of Saluki passage πΎ

Nothing but good Saluki vibes during the playoff game this weekend ππΎ
We loved seeing you all - the Saluki support was STRONG and so was the win!!

From SIU student in Carbondale β‘ to Design Engineer in Tacoma, Washington.
π¨βπ '21 grad Scott Kasper hit the ground running right after he graduated, moving directly from his student apartment to an apartment in Washington state. Scott is a Design Engineer with the Civil Engineering team at Atwell.
His favorite SIU memory? Scott says: "I am proud of being a co-captain of the concrete canoe design team and being the overall winner of the 2021 Concrete Canoe Competition at the Mid-Continent Student Conference."
Here he is with fellow Salukis at an alumni gathering in Seattle recently β¬

A WHOPPING win!! ππ€©

Happy Thanksgiving, Salukis! π½ππΎ
As you gather around the table with family and friends, we hope you'll consider gathering around the table with a few strangers this spring.
β‘οΈ We're talking about our "Dinner with 12" program in which local alumni volunteer to take a group of SIU students out to dinner one night and share their Saluki experience. Over the years, this event has become so much more than networking. Students and hosts leave the table as friends.
Dinners are scheduled for March 1st or March 2nd, 2024. But hosts will need to register by December 15th!
Here's the registration link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=55h61U10-UO8kQjeH_NxDfqKqcCVgIZCulDPKTXXbV1URTFMNUExMkNZOUJYVDJBT1dNTlM1MjMyVC4u
Here's what the experience looks and feels like β¬οΈ

350 HOURS of giving back.
Now that's a statistic we love to hear, just in time for Thanksgiving.
Our Student Alumni Council completed all those volunteer hours in just one semester. Much of their work supports SIU programs for fellow students in addition to alumni programs. Salukis support each other!
We are so grateful for them πΎβ€οΈ

A successful meeting with the mayor, done! β
Our Student Alumni Council enjoyed hosting City of Carbondale Government mayor Carolin Harvey!
She came down to the Alumni Center in Woody Hall and talked with our students about what it means to be a public servant and the importance of community service.

Same spot, 100 year difference.
Altgeld Hall is still as majestic as ever.

Happy Tuesday from campus, Salukis!

It all started as a random conversation at the lunch table...
And now, Saluki Sleuths is an award winning mini documentary series! π We are SO PROUD.
Sleuths earned a 2023 Best of District V Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education!
For those who may not know, Saluki Sleuths is a series we started for alumni in 2022 that explores SIU myths, folklore, and mysteries.
We've:
β‘ Traversed the Steam Tunnels
β‘ Made it from one end to the other of Faner Hall
β‘ Climbed the Pulliam Hall clocktower
β‘ Uncovered the real story behind our mascot
..and so much more!
