SIU Photogenesis Photogenesis is an RSO at Southern Illinois University Carbondale Photogenesis is a student organization for those interested in photography.

We bring in guest speakers, host workshops, and take photo trips in the interest of becoming better photographers and networking with others in our profession.

Last week, Prof Martinez scoped out the VIP Backstage area under the stage for the upcoming DuQuoin state fair concerts. It’s a small and low ceiling space. He’s letting us use some led light sticks that should do the job with greater ease. He ran some tests in the PhotoLab to make sure it will work out.

Big Announcement for Photogenesis! Photo Professor Martinez and AD Applied Photo 1/ Photogenesis students will be photographing the DuQuoin State Fair this year. In 2019, Photogenesis undertook this endeavor under the leadership of recent alumni and .holbrook , both of whom will be joining the effort for at least the first weekend of this 11 day event. The Applied Photo course will function as the project-based / commercial branch for Photogenesis.

We are looking forward to the virtual talk with National Geographic photographer, Ami Vitale. Ami Vitale will also be one of the jurors for this year's Lux magazine.
The Zoom session is March 4th at 5:00pm to 6:30pm but will open at 4:30 to show Ami's bio and her work. It will be open to the first 300 people to join. Closed captions provided. The Zoom link can be found in our bio.
