Visited recently with Bobby Lavender in Sorrento FL near Orlando when I was there for a sailing regatta. We’re very far removed from our elementary years at U school. Bob and his wife Linda are very successful in the fashion industry and have designed their own lines of jewelry.

This is Lucille Strawn, Bob’s youngest daughter. I am writing from his account with hopes of getting the word out to all those he loved and those who loved him of his passing yesterday (if you haven’t already seen Andrew J Okey’s beautiful tribute).
My dad had been staying down in Milwaukee with me and my family for the past several months. My siblings and I had been trying to have him make it down here for sometime, but COVID pushed the timing back. But this September, we were finally able to make it happen.
His health never fully recovered after his battle with cancer, but he kept on going for over a decade. We had started to notice his health getting a bit worse over the summer, and then took a bigger turn over the past few weeks. He was comfortable here at my house with us and peacefully passed in the night. We are devastated to lose him, but so grateful he did not suffer.
Washburn and the northwoods was where our mom and dad found their home. Our dad loved being Dr Bob and having the reputation of a helper. It was hard for him to not be able to help people the way he once could after his bout with cancer, and he definitely isolated himself some in his final years in Washburn. But he loved you all so very much, I hope that goes without saying.
We will be planning a celebration of his life to be held in early summer back up north - to bring him home.
