Aloha Families!
We are happy to announce that our 'Ohana Hub here at Hōnaunau will open tomorrow (Tues, Oct.31) from 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm. We currently have a small supply of clothing, shelf-stable food items, hygiene/bath products & other small knick-knacks. All items available in our hub are free for our families but we'd also like to have some conversations about school/community improvement while you visit.
We are also seeking donations to help supply our hub with things such as clothing, hygiene products, household items, footwear, unexpired shelf-stable food items, etc... All items donated should be clean & in new/gently used condition and can be brought to Room 10 (next to health room). Our team will sort all donations that come through. Our 'ohana hub will be open during parent/teacher conference days from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Please come visit! Mahalo :)

&& we are starting the planning early this year 🙌🏾 Hōnaunau Elementary School's May Day celebration will be held on Saturday May 18, 2024. Our theme will be "I ulu no ka lālā i ke kumu" - the branches grow because of the trunk; without our ancestors we would not be here in honor of our kupuna & also in honor of the late Aunty Diana Aki .
We are seeking donations for our silent auction, country store, & food/game booths. Donation letters have been made and will be getting sent out throughout the end of the year. Monetary donations also welcome 🙂
This years May Day is being chaired by me & the most amazing Harmony Grace 🙌🏾 If you would like to snag a few letters and help us with this process or if you know of anyone/organizations/businesses who would like to donate please let us know and we can connect. It takes a village & we come from one of the BEST!!!

Aloha Families!

Happy Summer! I am happy to share that our school will be a hub for Kaukau 4 Keiki food distributions.

REGISTRATION OPENS ON JUNE 5th!!

This is a 6-week Summer Food Service Program, beginning the week of June 19th and running through July 28th. Each week you will receive 7 days of USDA approved shelf stable foods and fresh produce!
There are 35 hub sites statewide. While Hōnaunau School is a hub, please select the one that is easiest for you to access!
Distribution details will be posted shortly.

Aloha Hōnaunau 'ohana! Yesterday our students were blessed with Field Day activities, Food Basket distribution & May Day king/queen speeches. Mahalo NUI to all volunteers, staff, students, 'ohana & community partnerships that helped to make yesterday a success. Hōnaunau 'Ohana... At about 38 minutes into this video, our former teacher Mr. Christopher Pike shares some mana'o (thoughts). I'm sharing this because of the way he speaks about our community here in Hōnaunau. As much as he says "I am who I am today because of them", it's because of him that a lot of our students are becoming who they are becoming. Our community misses you tremendously Topher but we know that the work we are doing wherever we are is for the betterment of our keiki, 'ohana, community(ies) and lāhui! Love you NUI Topher

Hōnaunau Elementary School 'ohana... MAHALO for coming out to support your keiki, our teachers/staff & our surrounding community(ies)!!! To all our partner organizations that shared info at the pop-up booths, you guys ROCKED! To our staff/teachers & everyone else who came early, stayed late & made this happen... mahalo mahalo mahalo!
Hearing all the conversations and laughter in the air was beautiful and we look forward to all the exciting things that will be happening in the near future, creating more opportunites for interaction with one another once again!!
This is our new school page monitored primarily by Harmony Grace (PCNC), and Trish Papalimu (Community Schools Coordinator). We will be utilizing this page a lot more as the school year rolls out.
