Capitol Heights Elementary School is excited to bring back one of our favorite traditions—Vocabulary Hat Day: A Celebration of Words!

Scholars are invited to choose a grade-appropriate vocabulary word and transform an ordinary hat into a creative masterpiece that showcases the word and its meaning through design, decoration, and imagination. We can't wait to see learning come to life!

• Best Use of Recyclable Materials
• Longest Word
• STEM
• Language Integration
• Most Creative
• Best Overall

⏰ Parent Viewing Time: 2:00 PM
🏠 All hats should be completed at home.

We encourage every scholar to participate as we celebrate creativity, vocabulary, and school pride. Families, come cheer on our students as they showcase their amazing work!

Fun at the Planet Word Museum!! All of our top 5 winners of our School-wide Spelling Bee 🐝 went on the field trip!! Special shout out the Assistant Principal Tease for organizing the Spelling Bee and this fun trip!!

It was STAFF CHALLENGE DAY on Tuesday at CHES! One of the challenges was “Self on the Shelf” 👀

Staff kept their eyes peeled as they moved through the building — on the way to the copier, lunch, or the lounge — searching for hidden pictures of themselves placed throughout the common areas of the school. The challenge was simple: find your photo and hang onto it!

At the end of the day, 10 numbers were randomly selected, and if your number was called AND you had your face in hand, you won a prize! 🎉

Our teachers were determined, competitive, and READY to claim their prizes. What a fun way to build excitement and staff camaraderie at CHES! 💙💛

Today, flowers and vases donated by our amazing CHES families were transformed into gorgeous arrangements for our teachers and staff. Every CHES teacher and staff member left with a vase of flowers to brighten their day!

Love and appreciation are truly BLOOMING at CHES! 🌷❤️

We are starting out Teacher Appreciation Week !!! No, Mrs. Rodriguez didn’t win a car, but her prize was just as great…she won free detailing for her car— a full job(inside and out!) Courtesy of a staff raffle and an honorable community partner! There were some very disappointed teachers who wanted that prize!!

Congratulations to our New CHES National Elementary Honor Society members! On Monday we proudly inducted 26 new students who are ready to be CHES LEADERS! ✨
