In 1963 a C-133 cargo master took off from Dover Air Force base headed to the Azores. It was never seen again. In a happenstance that can't be explained we happened upon the aircraft while looking for bronze cannons. Our friend and legendary scallop captain David Wiscott gave us some coordinates. The area was side scanned by ESS Ben Roberts. With the help of our team and research by Erik Petkovic and Ross Baxter we confirmed this was the 1963 plane.

Erik Petkovic located the family and organized this expedition

Today we were honored to take the families of both the pilot and the co-pilot to the wreck site.

Prayers were said, tears where shed

May their memories always be a blessing

The community of Dive Legends just got smaller.

Lou Sarlo -May your memory always be a blessing.

In the 1990's Lou and his friends George Power Bart Malone opened "The Gas Station". It was the first mixed gas center in the northeast USA. Lou and his friends supplied dive gas and certified countless "tech" divers in the 1990's.

When you read the classic 90's dive books where divers were moving from air to mix it was coming from Lou and his friends.

A true pioneer and a really good guy.

Lou ... gone too soon ... you will be missed

A wonderful story told by Richie Kohler about the day he predicted finding a bell 🔔. The power of positive thinking is a real thing.

When Richie Kohler tells a wreck story, you know it is going to be worth listening to.

In this episode, we talk about the wreck of the Olinda and one of those moments that every wreck diver dreams of: dropping onto a site that no one has dived before, trying to make sense of what is appearing and then finding the bell!!

This is not just a story about finding something on the seabed. It is about the excitement, uncertainty and responsibility that comes with deep wreck exploration.

Richie has dived some of the most famous wrecks in the world, but stories like Olinda show why the unknown wrecks can be every bit as powerful.

The video is now live on Deep Wreck Diver (link in comments)
