Hope Lutheran Ministries is a college student ministry for all Southeast Missouri State University students and the surrounding Cape Girardeau community. Hope Lutheran Ministries (HLM) at SEMO is a restart of what was previously called “University Lutheran Chapel of Hope”. God has raised up a new vision and name for this ministry and we are excited f

or what He has in store! Our Mission is to increase student discipleship and missional/vocational engagement within the SEMO campuses and the greater community of Cape Girardeau. Our vision is to Engage, Equip, Send, and Celebrate! Engage - We draw students in, connect with them and build relationships. Equip - We equip students through Bible studies and other activities to be prepared to spread the gospel. Send - We send students into unique places to share the gospel, both on campus and wherever they go in life. Celebrate - We celebrate milestones and what God has done. HLM is a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. HLM is led by a full time Campus Missionary who would love to connect and share more with you and your congregation! HLM also has a great Board of Directors, faithful Pastoral Advisors, Strategic Partners, and a focus towards developing Student Leaders.

This past week we had the honor of hosting a group of former board members for a reception. Ministry participation stretched from our current board, to those who served when the building was built in 1971, and beyond. We praise God for His faithfulness through every generation, for those who have served in the past, and for the excitement of the new vision of ministry for the future!

Our ministry year theme is "Hope is Alive" with the verse Hebrews 11:1; "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." We are continually reminded of the gift of faith that points us to our living hope in Jesus Christ. In Him we have the assurance and conviction we need to Engage, Equip, Send, and Celebrate, all by the grace of God. As a new year begins and a new vision for ministry at HLM takes shape, we have something great to share because "Hope is Alive"!

This past weekend Liam Kelley finished his Eagle Scout project at HLM. Liam led a crew of his family and friends to replace and greatly improve the fence around our site's outdoor mechanical area. Complete with new footings, posts, wood fencing, gate, w**d fabric and stone base. It looks great!

Liam chose HLM because he wanted his project to help the church and the community in a lasting way. Liam and his family are members of Hanover Lutheran Church. Liam is a graduate of Trinity Lutheran School - Cape Girardeau, MO and will be attending Saxony Lutheran High School this coming year.

Well done young man! We are grateful for your work!
