Last night we were visited by Ms. Shanna Wilson, the AP at West Lane Elementary. We learned so much and we can’t thank her enough. Here’s some of the takeaways we learned:
1. Appearance matters! Wear the school/district colors. Make sure fingernails are clean (no chipped polish!) Dress nice!
2. It is very helpful to include a picture with your resume, it will help them remember what you said when they are going back and thinking about answers.
3. If and when you submit any documents online, they have access to it. You don’t HAVE to bring them again in person.
4. When they ask the infamous “tell me about yourself” they want to know where and what grades you’ve gotten experience in.
5. There will be a lot of scenario based questions.
6. Prepare to self reflect! They want to know about the good and the bad, and how you plan on getting better.
7. Do your research on the district and school beforehand!!
8. Always come ready to ask them 2-3 questions.
