Because of their summer immersive clinical rotations, it has been 113 days since the Southeast Missouri State University Master of Science in Athletic Training Students have been in the same physical classroom.

Another 263 days to go until graduation in ! But who is counting! Those 263 days will be extremely busy, as they are in their final didactic classes, start preparing for the BOC exam, perform their general medical clinical rotation, all while in 1 of their 2 their full-semester intensive clinical rotations and starting the job search process. Is 263 days enough?

After practicing obtaining vital signs in the laboratory in the morning, they applied those skills during the SEMO Redhawks Winter and Spring Sports Day at Mercy Hospital Southeast. Kameron wrapped up his great immersion experience with Jason at Jackson High School-Jackson R-2 where he gained valuable and in-depth hands-on experience in a supportive and caring environment. Kameron gets to keep developing his athletic training, practical and critical thinking skills and capabilities as he will remain at Jackson High School-Jackson R-2 during the semester.

A quick look back at the equipment extraction laboratory for the Southeast Missouri State University Master of Science in Athletic Training Students.

It has been 2 weeks since the lab, and another week before classes start. But always nice to see how this group progressed, practiced, and bonded over a short 4-week in-person summer session. Looking forward to the next 21 months of classes and clinical rotations to watch this group's development into certified athletic trainers.

Dave, a 2019 program alumnus, was selected as the 2025-2026 Preceptor of the Year for the Southeast Missouri State University Master of Science in Athletic Training Program. Dave supervised only a few athletic training students last year, but he made a significant impact on them and always made time for their learning experiences. Dave has always been a great resource for all of our athletic training students for many years.

Dave is changing careers and will be an athletic trainer with Cognito Systems and their U.S. Department of War contracts and the program this fall. We are sorry to see him leave, but Dave will be an excellent advocate for athletic trainers and their work with many different military populations to promote readiness.

A final thank you to the Justin Sportsmedicine Team staff for sharing their knowledge and capabilities with the Southeast Missouri State University Master of Science in Athletic Training Students last week. From classroom visits to spending 4 nights at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. The athletic training students created memories and learning opportunities that will not be forgotten.

Eli is closing in on the last week of his Athletic Training Clinical Immersion with Nathan and Southeast Missouri Soccer. Eli completed a clinical rotation with Southeast Missouri Soccer during the semester and decided to remain with them during the summer for his clinical immersion. Southeast Missouri Soccer has always been a welcoming clinical site for our athletic training students, and we appreciate our partners in clinical education.
