We completed two weeks of our Summer Session today! It has been such a blessing spending time with a great group of homeschool families each week. One of our favorite parts of Homeschool Extras is seeing students build friendships while learning alongside other homeschool families who share a similar approach to education and community.
Today in Summer Crafts, the students finished their Mancala games and painted rock cacti. In Kitchen Science, we explored the science of gelatin and learned what gives it its unique properties. In STEM, we continued working on our automated ball runs, and the kids made some great progress on their designs today!
We wrapped up the day with All-Access Lab. One of the highlights was watching a 5-year-old teach another 5-year-old how to play chess. Moments like that remind us that learning often happens just as much from each other as it does from the activities themselves. π

Summer can be a great time to strengthen math fact fluency without spending hours on worksheets.
Our kids have been working through the Learning Wrap-Ups *10 Days to Mastery* books for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The hands-on Wrap-Ups allow students to practice their math facts and immediately check their own work, making it easy for them to work independently.
If you're looking for something educational to add to your summer routine, these might be worth checking out. They are available through the Step Up for Students Marketplace and on Amazon.
What are some of your favorite educational resources for summer learning?

Another great day at Homeschool Extras! π
Our LEGO Minecraft Biomes classes are really starting to come together. The students have been making great progress on their builds, and a few of our younger builders have been creating their own unique projects as well. π
In Spanish class, the kids had a blast playing LoterΓa (Mexican Bingo), which is always a fun way to practice vocabulary while having fun with friends.
During All-Access Lab, students stayed busy with all kinds of activities. Some built castles out of boxes, others worked on Perler Bead creations, played games, or examined bugs under the microscopes.
We wrapped up the day with Build It! The younger students designed and built kites, while the older students continued working on their mini-golf holes and bringing their creative ideas to life.
We love seeing the creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving happening throughout the day! π

Happy Monday! βοΈ
Our All About Florida students explored some of Florida's tourism attractions using their Florida Passport booklets. We also talked about Florida's state parks and other interesting places to visit around the state. The students then put their engineering skills to work by building blow rockets from straws and constructing forts with LEGO bricks.
In Book Club, the kids had a great time helping care for some injured stuffed animals as part of their activities.
Our STEM students continued designing, building, and testing their battle bots, with a few robots making their first appearances in the arena!
We finished the day with American flag-themed art projects and continued adding new features to our Fireworks application in Scratch Coding. It's always exciting to see the students apply programming concepts to create something fun and interactive.
Another great day of learning, creating, building, and exploring at Homeschool Extras! π

What a great first Thursday of our Summer Session! βοΈ
The day started with Summer Crafts, where students began painting their projects, and STEM, where they started building automated ball runs.
In Kitchen Science, we got to see yeast in action, turned cream into butter, and enjoyed some delicious sourdough bread. π
After lunch... WE WENT OUTSIDE!!! π
What amazing weather we've had the past few days here in Southwest Florida! The kids enjoyed some outdoor time before finishing the day in our All-Access Lab, where students get to explore a variety of activities and try things that may be completely new to them.
We love seeing students learn, create, experiment, and have fun together!
Our Fall Session begins August 10, and registration is now open. Reserve your spots today at www.homeschoolextras.com

A few more pictures from our All About Florida and Build It classes this week!
In All About Florida, the kids got to juice fresh Florida grapefruit. π We know Florida is famous for oranges, but apparently they're not in the stores right now. π€·ββοΈ
The taste test results were mixed. A few students asked for seconds, but most thought it was pretty terrible! π
We've also included a few pictures from our younger Build It class. Just look at the teamwork! It's always fun watching students work together, share ideas, and help each other solve problems.
Learning, building, experimenting, and tasting grapefruit juiceβthat's what Homeschool Extras is all about. π

A few pictures from today's classes at Homeschool Extras! π
This morning, students participated in Spanish, Choir, and our LEGO Minecraft Biomes class, where they continued building and creating together.
After lunch, our younger Build It! students had a great time designing and constructing ball runs, while the older students worked on creating their own mini-golf holes. There was plenty of creativity, problem-solving, testing, and redesigning throughout the day.
A student was disappointed when it was time to go home. π
We love seeing students learn new things, make friends, and look forward to coming back each week. Thank you to all of the families who make Homeschool Extras such a wonderful community!
