Mariner Middle School and our excellent band program are excited to share that 13 of our students auditioned and earned spots in the All-County Band! This is a huge accomplishment. The audition process included performing two prepared pieces of music and scales for judges in a blind audition.

Please help us congratulate the following students for their hard work and success: Zion A., Rebecca B., Aideen G., Theodore L., Gabby N., Trevor P., Ethan P., Ashley P., Vincent R., Kimberly R., Andrew S., Julian S., and Harmoni W.

We are incredibly proud of these students for representing our program and our school so well. Go Tritons!

Tritons! Remember that there is no school tomorrow for students. It is a Professional Duty Day for our teachers. They will be preparing your Quarter 3 grades. Have a great Spring Break!

Proud of Sam, Vincent, and Mason for joining young gentlemen across the county for the Young Men Lead conference, organized by The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc.. Held in Florida Gulf Coast University's Cohen Center, students from across our county collaborated to develop and hone their leadership skills. Thanks to the Foundation for this great opportunity, to FGCU for hosting, to the speakers and facilitators who did a great job, and especially to Mr. Wander, who sponsored the trip for our students. Go Tritons!

Congrats to Elijah M.., who was recognized at last night's School Board meeting. Elijah placed in the district-wide Inventors' Fair and already has plans for his entry next year. Mariner was also recognized for having earned High Reliability Schools Level 2 status. Go Tritons!

Yesterday was "Mario Kart Tuesday!" This was kind of an experiment with our PBIS system her at Mariner, and it proved popular.

Participating students redeemed 25 kudos to get in line first for lunch and then challenge a staff member (and other students) at a Mario Kart match. Three students competed in A-lunch and three more in B.

Despite Dr. Clark's best efforts, the final score was Kids 2, Staff 0. We probably need to sub in a different staff member if we do this again!

Shoutouts to Keira W. and Gema R. L. who were victorious in their lunches.

Visiting classrooms on Monday, I stopped by Ms. McGuire's class. While circulating, I passed by her desk. This note caught my eye and made me very grateful for her students, for the environment that Ms. McGuire works hard to develop, and for a great guest teacher that came in and maintained that environment for us. Go Tritons!

A big thanks to our friends at community partner Cape Christian! This past Saturday was "Serve Day," a day in which CC volunteers support projects all over the Cape. Mariner Middle School was no exception, and we are so grateful for the new plantings that grace the front of our school. They are beautiful and truly appreciated!

A big congratulations to our Triton Concert Band and Director McQueary: They earned straight superiors at this year's Music Performance Assessment. Way to go, Tritons; we are proud of you!

We Tritons represented for the 15th Annual Strides for Education 5K! I don't know if it was the construction-shortened distance or just their supreme conditioning, but our three youngest participants weren't winded at all by the end of the race. A big thanks to David, Ellie, Ennelize, Erika, Joanna, Marcus, Rachel, and those three previously-mentioned "tag-alongs" for making it a great morning!

Teachers and school leaders learn, too! In a recent professional learning, our teachers modeled student collaboration by focusing on HRS processing strategies. When students hear and discuss others' perspectives, new connections are made and learning increases.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) makes for a nice lunch! One of our PBIS redemptions is "outside seating with two friends." These Tritons redeemed their earned kudos and took advantage of that option on a beautiful afternoon. Go Tritons!
