October 10th is World Mental Health Day

The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

Mental health is an important factor in addiction and recovery. More than 7 of every 10 individuals with an addiction or in addiction recovery are also diagnosed with a mental disorder. Additionally, many individuals turn to substances such as alcohol or illicit drugs to escape the symptoms of their mental disorder, further compounding the issue.

There is help, both on and off campus. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health or addiction recovery, please reach out for resources and support at [email protected].
