Tuite Jitsu: (joint manipulation) Techniques from kata are used to restrain, control or disable an attacker. Kyusho Jitsu: (vital points) This is the art of advanced striking applications found through kata training. Bogu Kumite: (armored

sparring) A rough and serious form of sparring. Dedicated students who have developed their skills can progress to this form of training. Kobudo : (ancient warrior way) Ancient Okinawan weapons training, meant to augment the open-hand self defense education.

Happy August Everyone!! The Okishukan Fall seminar will be September 11-13 this year in the lovely Texas Panhandle!! Cost is $130 per person, with additional family members at $75. Extra shirts are $30, and extra meals are $30. Registration includes a shirt, lunch and the BarBQue dinner Saturday.

All, The dojo will be closed this Tuesday and Thursday this week. I’ve got a space conflict happening. We will have open class Monday from 6:00-7:00, and if anyone wants extra mat time, I will stay later. Regular class will resume next week.

The weather forecast for the upcoming couple of weeks show temperatures over 100°, with 106° this Thursday.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE HYDRATED BEFORE COMING TO CLASS!!!
This means water and electrolyte consumption during the day and not during class. I’d rather you need a bathroom break than to cramp up.

Even with the A/C going in the dojo, you all know it still gets very hot during this time of year.

I have gotten several notifications from Excel Energy that that will most likely turn the power off out at the dojo beginning at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, due to the expected high winds tomorrow. Thus far, indications are that power will not be restored until late tomorrow evening. If power is shut down, I will make an announcement concerning class sometime around noon. Obviously, if there is no power, we can’t have class.
