We need your vintage farm stuff!

Hey WT Opera friends, we are looking for vintage farming items to use in our upcoming production of Proving Up. (All about western settling during the Homestead Act, and we’re throwing in a little Dust Bowl flare.)

We are searching for items like hay knives, pitchforks, wheel hoes, normal hoes, shovels, etc from 1870s to 1930s.

Here’s a tiny taste of our first music rehearsal today! Our WT Students never cease to amaze. Here is Joshua Moreno as Miles, Oscar Hample as the Sodbuster, Erin Hinds Lafferty and Paige Preston on harmonicas (yes they sing a lot too) and our brilliant music director Leesa Kellerman on the keys. Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s Proving Up is going to be such a treat for our Texas Panhandle to experience.

(Tickets are currently available https://cur8.com/22281/project/141595)

We had our first Proving Up cast meeting today, where American historian and director of Center for the Study of the American West, Dr. Timothy Bowman taught us all about the Homestead Act and the settling of the West. Tickets are now on sale for our Wednesday and Sunday shows. The remaining Friday tickets will become available after we get numbers from National Association of Teachers of Singing attendees. Don't miss our second collab with Amarillo Symphony and Chamber Music Amarillo.
