We are heartbroken as we learn of the passing of our brother, John Sprague of the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega at West Texas A&M University.

John was a great brother who was actively involved, present, and someone who meant a great deal to the men of this chapter. He showed up. He cared. He made an impact that will not be forgotten.

The Chapter’s prayers and thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

He will be deeply missed.

Statement from the Zeta Kappa Board of Trustees

The Zeta Kappa Board of Trustees announces today that the National Fraternity has revoked the undergraduate charter of the Zeta Kappa Chapter, ending its official presence on campus.

This is a profoundly difficult moment in the long and proud history of Zeta Kappa. For generations, the chapter has been more than an organization. It has been a brotherhood, a proving ground for leadership, and a lifelong source of connection and purpose. Countless alumni trace formative moments of growth, friendship, and service back to their time within this chapter. That legacy cannot be erased by administrative action, nor does it disappear with the closing of an undergraduate roster.

We recognize the heartbreak this news brings to alumni, undergraduates, families, and supporters who have poured their time, energy, and love into Zeta Kappa. The chapter’s story is measured not by its final semester, but by decades of impact. Men shaped into leaders, friendships forged into lifelong bonds, and traditions carried forward into communities far beyond campus.

While the undergraduate chapter will no longer operate, the spirit and legacy of Zeta Kappa remain alive in its alumni. Brotherhood does not end with a charter. It endures in the relationships, values, and shared history that unite us.

Looking forward, the Zeta Kappa Board of Trustees, in partnership with the Housing Corporation and the Scholarship Endowment, will begin discussions on how best to steward the chapter’s legacy, protect its assets, support alumni engagement, and position Zeta Kappa for a strong and meaningful future. These conversations will focus on preserving what generations have built while exploring pathways that may allow the chapter’s story to continue in new ways.

We encourage all Zeta Kappa alumni to stay connected, to support one another, and to carry forward the ideals that defined our time together. The measure of Zeta Kappa has always been its brothers, and that brotherhood remains intact.

Zeta Kappa is not defined by a charter. It is defined by the men who lived its values, and those values endure.

This weekend, the Board of Trustees hosted the newly elected executive officers of the Zeta Kappa Chapter in Fort Worth, Texas.

After wrapping up finals and the end of the semester itself, the officers traveled down for a weekend deep dive and comprehensive overview of chapter operations. Sessions focused on officer roles and responsibilities, national & local bylawys review, risk management and safety, recruitment and retention, and strengthening brotherhood through intentional activities.

Members also heard directly from the Board of Trustees, each of whom previously served in officer roles during their time in the chapter, offering insight, perspective, and guidance drawn from experience.

A productive and meaningful start to their term as they prepare to lead the chapter moving forward.

**Resurrection Sunday Devotional: The Dawn of Promise Fulfilled**

Today, Resurrection Sunday, we stand in awe and jubilation, celebrating the most glorious moment in Christian faith: Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, conquering death and fulfilling God’s promise of salvation. This is not just a historical event; it’s the cornerstone of our hope, the assurance of our faith, and the source of eternal life.

**The Empty Tomb: A New Beginning**

Early on that first Easter morning, the women found the tomb empty and were greeted with the words, “He is not here; he has risen!” (Luke 24:6). Imagine the mix of astonishment, fear, and overwhelming joy they must have felt. Today, let’s allow our hearts to be stirred by the same incredible news. The empty tomb is God’s powerful statement that death does not have the final say—life does.

**The Fulfillment of God’s Promise**

Jesus’s resurrection is the fulfillment of God’s ancient promise to overcome sin and death once and for all. Through His death, Jesus took upon Himself the penalty for our sins, and through His resurrection, He opened the door to new life for us all. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). **The Silence of the Tomb**

In the silence of this day, we are invited to meditate on the profound mystery of Jesus's death and burial. "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). Let us reflect on the weight of these words and the depth of love that led Jesus to the cross and the tomb for us.

**The Cross: A Symbol of Ultimate Love**

In the fading light of day, let’s remember the cross not just as a symbol of suffering, but as the ultimate expression of selfless love. "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13). Tonight, as we prepare for rest, let’s meditate on what it means to love so profoundly that sacrifice becomes an act of grace.

**Finding Light in Darkness**
