Amazing woman. 🎶 🎼

Born in Paris in 1887, French composer, conductor and teacher Nadia Boulanger became one of the most influential musical figures of the 20th century.

Although she began her career as a composer, Boulanger became best known as a legendary teacher whose rigorous, searching musical mind shaped generations of artists. Her students included Aaron Copland, Philip Glass, Astor Piazzolla, Quincy Jones, Elliott Carter and Leonard Bernstein composers and musicians whose styles could hardly have been more different.

Boulanger also broke major barriers as a conductor, leading some of the world’s most important orchestras at a time when women were rarely invited to the podium. Her legacy lives not only in the music she wrote, but in the extraordinary voices she helped discover and develop. 🎼
