The halls are once again filled with curious minds, busy hands, big smiles, and the joyful sounds of children learning together. We are so happy to welcome our students and families back for another wonderful year at Plymouth-Canton Montessori School!

The first days of school are all about reconnecting, establishing routines, building community, and settling into the beautiful rhythm of the Montessori classroom. We love watching our students find their place, reconnect with friends, and begin their journey into a new school year.

🌿 **What Does “Normalization” Mean in Montessori?**

You may hear Montessori educators use the word *normalization* during the first weeks of school. But what does it mean?

Normalization describes the process through which children become increasingly comfortable and engaged in their environment. Over time, we begin to see children:

🧘‍♀️ Concentrating deeply
👐 Choosing purposeful work
🔁 Repeating activities to master a skill
🤝 Developing positive relationships
🌱 Becoming more independent
✨ Finding joy in learning

The beginning of the school year is an important part of this process. Children are learning where materials belong, how to move through the classroom, how to make choices, and how to participate in their community.

It doesn't happen overnight—and that's okay.

Our role is to prepare the environment, establish consistent routines, and give children the time and freedom they need to grow into their Montessori experience.

A new school year is beginning, and we are so excited to welcome our students back into the Montessori environment!

The first days and weeks of school are a special time of orientation, connection, and normalization. Children are getting reacquainted with their classrooms, reconnecting with friends and teachers, learning routines, and finding their place within the community.

In Montessori, we understand that this process takes time. Rather than rushing children through the transition, we give them space to observe, practice, repeat, and gradually become comfortable in their environment.

We can’t wait to welcome our families back to campus! Join us tomorrow between 9:00–11:00 a.m. with your child for Visiting Day. Come explore their classroom, meet their teachers, reconnect with friends, and get excited for the year ahead! 💛

This week, our teachers and staff are hard at work preparing for an incredible school year!

From engaging in professional development and staff training to thoughtfully setting up classrooms, planning meaningful lessons, and preparing beautiful Montessori environments, every detail is being carefully considered. Most importantly, our team is pouring their hearts into creating a warm, welcoming space where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.
