The Learning Resource Center (LRC) has been actively engaging in activities throughout the month to celebrate National Book Month and recognize Banned Books Week! One of the fun ways they’re celebrating is with the Pumpkin Patch Book program! 🍂📖🎃

Students and staff are invited to pick out a book to keep, using only the clues on its cover to discover their next great read! No title, no author, no spoilers, just a little mystery and the chance to find something new.

The goal is simple: get books into the hands of readers and encourage a love of reading!

Stop by the LRC at the Canton or Macomb campus to pick your pumpkin patch book and see what story finds you!

Building a stronger rural healthcare workforce—together. 🩺

SRC’s Melissa Miller and Sarah Bowton recently represented Spoon River College at Building Illinois’ Rural Health Workforce Together, an invitation-only symposium at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford.

The event brought together healthcare professionals, colleges, hospitals, and state and national organizations to explore ways to address rural healthcare workforce needs and create new opportunities through collaboration.

And there’s exciting news for SRC! Through the Illinois Rural Health Initiative, Spoon River College is one of 31 rural community colleges receiving grant funding this academic year to help expand and strengthen healthcare workforce training.

That means more opportunities to prepare students for rewarding healthcare careers—and more skilled professionals ready to serve our rural communities. 💙
Investing in students. Strengthening our workforce. Supporting healthier communities.
