Raag Puriya Dhanashri, performed by Naveen Jackson accompanied by Shyam Suresh on tabla.
Naveen has just completed 10 years of study with Smt. Manjula Verma of the Swar Mandir School of North Indian Classical Music. Shyam has studied tabla with Shri Hemant Babtiwale for the past five years.
Raag Puriya Dhanashri evokes feelings of compassion and is considered to be emotional in nature.
Both boys put on an exceptional performance this afternoon at the Canton Libertyfest International Festival. Enjoy!
On Saturday, May 7, 2022, the Uttar Pradesh Association of Detroit invited Swar Mandir to participate in its Rang Barse function held at the Canton Hindu Temple.
Accompanying sitarist Naveen Jackson is Siddhu Lokam, an excellent Tabla student who has learned with Hemant Babtiwale for many years. Together they perform Raag Bilawal.
On Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Canton Multicultural Committee invited Swar Mandir to participate in its annual Canton International Showcase held at the The Village Theater at Cherry Hill.
Swar Mandir student Naveen Jackson performed Raag Todi on the sitar. He is accompanied by Aryaman Ranjan, a tabla student of exceptional ability who has learned with Hemant Babtiwale for many years.

On Saturday, November 13, 2021, the Canton Multicultural Committee invited Swar Mandir to participate in its annual Canton International Festival held at the Cherry Hill Village Theater.
Swar Mandir student Naveen Jackson performed Miyan Malhar on the sitar. He is accompanied by Rishi Phadnis, a tabla student of exceptional ability who has learned with Hemant Babtiwale for many years.
Miyan Malhar is a very old raag, composed by the legendary Tansen some 500 years ago. This raag is a musical prayer invoking the rain to come drench the earth, rejuvenating all life. Considered a raag to be played at the midnight hour, it may be played anytime during the rainy season.
Swar Mandir Founder playing Raag Bhairavi for Diwali with a top graduate of the school, Monica Prasad, accompanied on tabla by the talented Prashant Javkar. Monica is finishing up medical school.
