On Saturday, November 13, 2021, the Canton Multicultural Committee invited Swar Mandir to participate in its annual Canton International Festival held at the Cherry Hill Village Theater.
Swar Mandir student Naveen Jackson performed Miyan Malhar on the sitar. He is accompanied by Rishi Phadnis, a tabla student of exceptional ability who has learned with Hemant Babtiwale for many years.

Miyan Malhar is a very old raag, composed by the legendary Tansen some 500 years ago. This raag is a musical prayer invoking the rain to come drench the earth, rejuvenating all life. Considered a raag to be played at the midnight hour, it may be played anytime during the rainy season.
