A Message from our very own Canton PTK Faculty Advisor:

Hello, Kappans!

As I'm sure you're aware, we are facing a serious disruption to face-to-face interactions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To that end, all PTK meetings will be suspended for the rest of the semester. In addition, I am so sorry to inform you that the decision has been made to cancel next month's induction ceremony. I know that some of you have not yet had an opportunity to walk through the formal induction ceremony, and I am very sorry that we won't be able to celebrate and recognize your achievements.

What does this mean for us and our projects? We've had a few donations for our Purses of Hope project, but I'm not sure how that is all going to come together at this point. I believe that I will arrange for pick up of the current donations, but we will not be participating in a large scale event to "stuff" the purses and prepare them for donation. If you would still like to donate, I'm sure monetary donations would be gratefully received by the organization. Please contact me if you're interested in donating and I'll put you in touch with the correct contact for that.

I will miss seeing our small group of dedicated students! I will especially miss saying goodbye to all of my sophomore students who will be transferring after this semester. Best of luck to you all, and please stay healthy!

Hello everyone!

Pekin Purses of Hope is a charity serving Tazewell County, Illinois. "POH collects handbags and personal care items for women who are currently residing or seeking assistance from local shelters, many of whom are escaping abusive situations. They also collect backpacks, personal care items, and other small items for children and teens who may be seeking shelter with their mothers at the shelters."
Their goal this year is to distribute over 500 purses to women and their children. We are striving to collect donations to help them reach their goal!
Essentials needed to fill the purses are: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, and lotions.
For the children's backpacks: books, puzzles, crayons, coloring books, and other personal hygiene items are acceptable.

Thank YOU for being willing to help POH attain their goal!

Students prepared for their finals to multiply their knowledge.
..that's all we've got. But it's the night before , and those students prepared knowing that, tomorrow, at least 200 people (we hope) will have their backs.
