Our natural resource educator positively identified jumping worms from the woodchip pile at the Town of Potsdam Highway Department. We thank them for being proactive and vigilant for their residents!

Jumping worms have been present in Potsdam and other St. Lawrence County communities for several years. There currently is no viable jumping worm control method, but YOU can prevent their spread!

• don't use woodchips, soil, or other organic matter from known locations of jumping worms
• only buy compost that is heat-treated, or heat in the sun for 3 days to a minimum temperature of 104 °F
• DO NOT buy/use jumping worms for bait, vermicomposting, or gardening
• thoroughly clean gardening tools, shoes, and equipment before moving to and from sites
• share or move only bare root plants
• if you suspect you have found invasive jumping worms, please contact CCE for identification and advice

We’re excited to welcome 8 O'clock Ranch to our Celebrating Local Food Initiative! Owned by Kassandra and John Barton, 8 O’clock Ranch has been raising grass fed livestock and chickens in DeKalb Junction since 2003.

Over the years they've expanded their offerings beyond their farm raised goods to include additional meats and products from several local farmers and producers including eggs from Rustling Grass Farm, honey from St. Lawrence Valley Honey, coffee from St. Lawrence Valley Roasters, and maple syrup from Chris and Dan Huntley. The local foods team is creating custom posters to decorate their ranch store promoting their partner producers.

Residents of Canton, Potsdam, and Madrid can order online for home delivery! Another option is visiting their ranch store or ordering online for shipment across the US. https://8oclockranch.com/
