Congratulations to Cherokee High School Class of 2026 senior, Anna Weitzenkorn, on being awarded one of only two national Vicki Soto Memorial Scholarships!

Named in honor of Vicki Soto, the beloved teacher who lost her life protecting her students at Sandy Hook Elementary, this prestigious scholarship recognizes future educators who exemplify a passion for teaching and service.

Anna's outstanding essay and recommendation from CHS teacher Anna Sloan helped earn her this incredible honor. She will receive $12,000 to support her studies at Samford University, where she plans to pursue a career in special education.

We are so proud of Anna and can't wait to see the impact she will make on future generations of students!

Logan Harmon has earned the Britt Kearce Memorial Scholarship announced by Positive Athlete Georgia. “I am incredibly proud of the legacy we are leaving behind. The past few months I've been asked, ‘Aren't you sad that you won't go to the new campus?’ And to that I'd say -- I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous. But I wouldn't give up the opportunity to be the last graduating class at historic Cherokee High School for anything. I will always take pride in being a Cherokee Warrior. Once and always,” Cherokee High School Class of 2026 President Aven Wright shared in her graduation speech. Building leaders starts in CCSD with the investment by our teachers, School Board, and community into our students’ success. Congratulations to our Class of 2026 and best wishes in all that you will accomplish! Our School Board is laser focused on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.
