Plain Local Schools is looking for an experienced RN to fill their Career Technical Education/Teacher of Nursing position. See below for the job description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: RN license and willingness to obtain career teacher certification from the Ohio Department of Education. Minimum five years full time, recent employment experience directly related to nursing.
PREFERRED: BSN degree. Previous successful experience working in a school environment Experience in teaching didactic and clinical courses to students on a pathway to becoming Licensed Practical Nurse students. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find necessary.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board in accordance with the school calendar.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
SUPERVISES:
Student(s) and /or any area designated by the principal.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Provides instruction in the career technical nursing, in the school building and in the community, in an atmosphere that implements the philosophies of the district, school and program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform the following duties under the principal’s direction and guidance:
1. Maintains an atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
2. Prepares and maintains a plan of classwork and procedures in order to assure that performance objectives and aims of instruction are being met. Organizes and structures materials for the most effective utilization of time. Plans lessons and implements activities that are congruent with the course of study and the entry-level skills of students. Allows for student participation in designing and selecting appropriate classroom instructional activities.
3. Attends to the health, safety and well-being of students.
4. Ability Communicate with a diverse group of students.
5. Provides assistance in:
• Supervision of students in the curricular and co-curricular programs both in and outside the school
• The care of facilities and equipment
• The preparation of records, reports and student evaluation
6. Provides individual assistance to student in:
• Their studies
• Their personal matters when appropriate
• Educational and/or vocational decision-making
a. Recognition and referral of learning disabilities
7. Makes accommodations in instruction and approach that allows the student to achieve at his or her full potential with respect to his/her individual abilities and disabilities
8. Strives to improve his/her performance as a teacher through:
• Curriculum planning and development
• Professional meetings and visitations
• In-service growth activities
• Selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials
• Writing and implementing annual job targets
• Performance evaluation
9. Enters into interdependence with all school personnel to ensure a climate conducive to the personal growth of each member of the staff and student body.
10. Cooperates with parents or guardians through individual and/or group conferences, parent-teacher organization and such other meetings as may be advisable.
11. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal.
12. Work as part of a professional team in meeting needs of students.
13. Comply with required district wide training
14. Provide assistance to staff and students that may include occasional interaction among unruly children.
15. Model and use appropriate verbal and written communication. Interact with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities including students with disabilities.
16. Maintain confidentiality of information and records.
17. Implement, execute and comply with provisions of State Statutes, Board Policies and Administrative rules and regulations.
18. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal
