The 5th grade ELA team has truly outdone themselves! 🚋📚 Our building has been transformed into The Phantom Tollbooth as students begin their Wit & Wisdom Module 2 novel. Students enjoyed a “trolley ride” through the Lands Beyond, guided by none other than Miss Information herself. What an imaginative and engaging way to bring this beloved story to life and spark excitement for learning! ✨

Our 6th Grade Honors Art students are hard at work creating mosaic suncatchers! ✨ They’re cutting and arranging glass to bring their own designs to life—an incredible hands-on art experience at this level. We’re proud of the creativity, confidence, and innovation fostered through the outstanding art program at Plain Local Schools. 🎨

Our ABC Club students rocked an amazing variety of cozy, creative, and downright fun slippers as a special reward for the month of December. From fuzzy favorites to festive designs, the smiles said it all! We loved seeing our students relax, celebrate their hard work, and show off their slipper style. Way to go, ABC Club—keep up the great work! 👏💚💛

Today marked our 67th day of school, and our staff celebrated in style! Teachers and support staff rocked their custom “6” and “7” shirts, and our students loved every minute of it. The energy in the hallways and at lunches was contagious—just one more way we make learning fun at Glenwood! 💚💛

Our 6th grade Honors Art students are hard at work putting the finishing touches on their mixed media animal portraits! 🖼️🐾 Their creativity and attention to detail are truly impressive!

Thank you to the Plain Local Schools Foundation for the Star Grant that allowed us to purchase a new game for our students. They are having a blast and learning cooperation with their new nine square in the air game. We are so grateful for the funds provided to increase our students activity and engagement. 💚💛

🌈 Science Lab Spotlight: The Color Challenge!

Over the past few weeks, our 6th-grade scientists have been busy learning about lab safety, how to make qualitative and quantitative observations, and how to accurately measure liquid volume. This week, they put all of those skills to the test in our exciting Color Challenge Lab!

Working in teams of three or four, students started with red, yellow, and blue colored water and carefully followed nine detailed steps of measuring and mixing to create a full rainbow of colors in their test tubes. This hands-on activity gave students the opportunity to apply precision, teamwork, and critical thinking—while having a lot of fun seeing science come to life before their eyes!

Students in Mrs. Shear's class enjoyed a fine motor art craft and explored a moon sand sensory tub—both were a huge hit! 🖌️🌙 We love creating hands-on experiences that build motor skills while sparking conversations and creativity. 💡👏

🎶 Our sixth-grade band is sounding great! Today’s rehearsal was extra special as it was led by two of our talented student conductors, Wesley and Hattie. 👏 We are so proud of their leadership and musicianship—way to go, GWIS Eagles!
