Last day of school!!! We made it through another year. Congratulations to all the 8th graders as they move up and onto high school.

This will also conclude my time at GMS and as the CAPT president. Thank you for all your support through the years. I leave you in the amazing hands of Lindsey Weber as your 2023/2024 CAPT President.

On March 8, 2023 6-8pm - the Canton CPASS (Canton Parent Advisory Committee to Student Services) will be hosting the very first resource fair for families.

This event will showcase local and regional services available to
children with special needs and their families.

This is a great opportunity for families to speak directly with
representatives from a variety of state agencies, recreational
opportunities and support programs that are available to you and
your student.

This event is free for families and will include a raffle for all who attend.

REMINDER
CAPT Meeting tonight at 6:30 in the library followed by an 8th parent/guardian meeting to complete the planning of end of year for 8th grade.

The December 5th CAPT meeting will be cancelled and the next scheduled meeting is February 7th, 2023. If you have any CAPT items to raise, please email [email protected]

In lieu of a CAPT meeting on 12/5 @ 6:30; there will be a parent/guardian meeting, held by the GMS Administration, for 8th grade parents to discuss the end of year activities, semi-formal, move up ceremony, etc. If you are an 8th grade parent, please mark your calendar. Details will be in the weekly smores.

THANK YOU from the Galvin CAPT. Our annual "FIT4FUND$" fundraiser was a huge success raising $42,000! A special thanks to all the students and families who collected donations. And a huge shout out and thank you to the faculty, for their support in running the events of the day. Due to the funds raised CAPT will be able to support student programming, guest speakers, offset field trip cost, teacher appreciation and other enrichment opportunities for all grades! It was great to see the smiles on the students’ faces throughout the day! CAPT will wrap up this fun event with raffle prizes and homework passes being announced and distributed during lunch periods later in the month!

At this time all payments have been processed. If you don't see your check cashed etc, please check in with your students. In June about 10 envelopes "APPEARED" to be found from last year fund raiser while cleaning out bags, etc.!!!

This is Catherine Hoberg, CAPT President at the Galvin Middle School, with an important announcement.
This Friday, September 30th is the annual Fit 4 Fund$ event at the Galvin, where all students will participate in the wellness event of their choosing. Parent and guardians are welcome to stop by or volunteer at the event.
We are hoping to keep with tradition and make this our only fundraiser of the year. We are counting on your generous support this week. We are only half way to our goal with the event a few days away.
Please help us reach our goal by sending in your donation envelopes or donate on-line this week.
All money raised goes directly back to the school to support student agendas, field trip expenses, special programming and presentations, teacher appreciation and classroom request, guest speakers, special events for all students and so much more.
No one wants to see events canceled or go unsupported due to lack of funds. We all want to give our children here at the Galvin the best well rounded educational experiences we can.

GMS CAPT only holds 1 fundraiser to offset all CAPT supported events.

Yesterday all students had a pep rally and received an information form package. Please ask about!!!

The event is scheduled for Friday 9/30 (rain date 10/4).
Donations can be made electronically and or cash/check (payable to Galvin CAPT) should be returned to school in the envelope provided. If you make an online donation, you DO NOT need to return the form!

GMS Annual in-school fund raiser (and only fund raiser!!!) - Fit4Funds (F4F$s) will be held Friday Sept 30th (rain day 10/4) during the school day. Student pep rally and forms to be sent home Sept 16th.

I would like to take a moment and recognize the moms who have worked very hard over the past 8 months to plan and execute amazing year-end experiences for the GMS 8th grade - Jessica Smith, Rayna Carbone, Carla Garcia, Tricia Van Osdol, Meg Kennedy, Jen McCabe and Monique Bultosky. (I apologize if I missed anyone). This group of moms have worked extremely hard exploring options once the DC trip was not viable, and I know that was a disappointment to some. Out of lemons, they have been able to make lemonade, with 98% of the grade able to participate in the local field trips. WOW!!! Sincere THANK YOU!!! This group has been working behind the scenes for months, meeting monthly and most recently weekly to ensure everything planned came together.

Additionally, at Monday’s CAPT meeting, additional funds were re-allocated to sponsor the semi-formal dance, which was not included in the initial field trip cost. The initial thoughts were not the same students would attend the field trips and the semi-formal, and a cost of $10 would have been charged. I am happy to say, as CAPT began closing out the year-end budget, CAPT was able to make this event happen without any additional cost to families.

Lastly, a special THANK YOU to all the families who donated a little more than their share. Your donations ensure all students, regardless of financial situation, are able to attend these experiences. Especially, the 2 families that donated $235 and $500, respectively, you know who you are!!!

Words cannot describe how excited I am to hear how everything turns out. I hope everyone is as happy and pleased, as the 8th grade coordinators are, with the end of year field trips, ice cream truck day at school, field day, year-end ceremony and other small items planned.

It truly does take a village. Congratulations to GMS Class of 2022!

Honor Thy Teacher

A donation to CAPE's Honor Thy Teacher program is a wonderful way to recognize a specific teacher, staff person or administrator who has helped make a student's school year brighter. All donations support CAPE grants.
