⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Now that it is NCDCEE website “official” I am so excited to announce that Silver Bluff KIDS Early Learning Center has earned a 5 star center license with the State of North Carolina!
Last year my staff and I began working on the pathway to the stars through the modernized QRIS.
We completed:
☑️ our Outreach assessment last summer
☑️ submitted our competency evaluations
☑️Submitted our continuous quality improvement plans and self assessments for the Center and the staff
☑️Submitted our teacher education
☑️completed/submitted our family and community engagement standards
And
☑️Finally we completed our program assessment in February of this year.

The ladies who work in the center have demonstrated through their daily work with the children how to provide high-quality care and how important it truly is.
I am beyond proud and thankful for each one of these wonderful ladies, and the families and children that make up SilverBluff Kids ELC.

Child care is becoming unaffordable — for families and the providers who care for our children.

Families across the country are paying thousands of dollars each year per child for care. For many parents, especially those with infants, child care can take 15% or more of their household income.

At the same time, child care providers are not making a profit. Most operate on extremely tight margins and still cannot cover the true cost of delivering high-quality early care and education.

When child care becomes unaffordable:
▪ Parents are forced to cut back on work hours
▪ Families delay or abandon career growth
▪ Workers leave the labor force altogether

This is not just a family challenge — it’s a workforce and economic issue that affects businesses, communities, and our state’s future.

A workforce cannot grow when parents cannot work. North Carolina loses billions every year to absenteeism and resignations caused by child care breakdowns.

These are avoidable losses. Strong policy is the corrective tool.
Policymakers are shaping the future of child care, and families, employers, and community members must be part of that conversation.

Visit ncchildcarepolicytoolkit.org to find simple, effective ways to engage with policymakers and advocate for a child care system that works.

Across our state, child care programs are closing faster than they’re opening.
Teachers — many earning less than $15 an hour — are leaving the field for better-paying jobs. Families are stuck on waitlists, and businesses are losing employees because parents can’t find reliable care.

Every closure isn’t just a loss for a family — it’s a loss for our economy, our workforce, and our future.

The North Carolina Early Education Coalition is calling for urgent action to stabilize and strengthen our child care system — by investing in early educators, protecting programs, and ensuring every child has access to quality early learning.

We know what works. Now we need the will to act.
