Celebrating 31 Years of Service in CCSD School Nutrition 🥗💙

After 31 incredible years as Cafeteria Manager at Little River Elementary, Vonnie is hanging up her apron and heading into a well-deserved retirement! For more than three decades, she has nourished not just students’ bodies, but their hearts, creating a welcoming cafeteria where every tray was served with care and a smile.

Her dedication, leadership, and love for her school community have left a lasting mark that will be felt for years to come. Vonnie, thank you for every early morning, every warm meal, and every moment you poured into your students and team. You will truly be missed!

And as we do with each retiring café manager, we asked Vonnie to share her parting words of wisdom for fellow managers, because great leaders always leave us with something to carry forward. 💫

This is it. The very last meal served in the original Cherokee High School cafeteria.

We had the honor of capturing this moment. It's not just a photo, it's the closing heartbeat of a place that has given so much to so many.

For 70 years, this cafeteria has been more than walls, trays, and delicious food. It's a place where friendships formed across tables, where laughter echoed between lunch periods, where generations of students were nourished not just with meals, but with memories.

This dining hall has seen it all. First days filled with nerves. Last days filled with nostalgia. Championship celebrations. Everyday conversations that meant everything in the moment to our dedicated School Nutrition Professionals.

And then…one final student walked that line. One last tray. One last “have a great day.” One last meal served in a cafeteria that has served millions of school breakfasts and school lunches over seven decades, each one a small piece of someone’s story, their growth, their journey.

A meaningful chapter comes to a close as we prepare to carry Cherokee High's School Nutrition legacy into a brand-new future.

To every student who ever carried a tray through this cafeteria…
To every memory made inside this dining hall…

❤️ Once, Always.
