Rise over Run reminded me of how important this is! It’s okay!

In a classroom of 34 kids, it’s more difficult to allow time for this. One thing I love about individual tutoring is that I can make time for the struggle, and make it productive!

Every time I tell someone I'm a math teacher, the response is usually a groan, "ewwww", "I hated math", "bless you", etc. On the rare occasion that someone says "I love math!" I swear my heart grows. It shouldn't be that way!

Let me help change the way you or your child thinks about math!

I get it...

A lot of us had a math class (or 2 or 3) that made us feel like math was no fun... or not useful... or not for us.

But... a lot of teachers are working really hard to make sure students see that math is for them... that math can be fun... that math is interesting... that math is useful... and that math class can be enjoyable.

So please, if you are a parent, relative, neighbor, coach, teacher of another subject, administrator, or any person anywhere... and a kid tells you they like math, be mindful of your reaction.

It is completely normal to like math.

📌Certified in math education (4th-12th grade)
📌Bachelor's in Middle Grades Math, Masters in Secondary Math, and Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction
📌Taught middle school in Forsyth County 6 years, including remedial, on-level, co-taught, advanced, and accelerated (high school level courses)
📌Currently teach Algebra 1 in Cherokee County
📌8 years tutoring experience with all students showing improvement of at least 1 grade level
