Cherokee High School PTSA Facebook Group Guidelines

The Cherokee HS PTSA Facebook Group is provided for the Cherokee High School community by the Cherokee HS PTSA. We will update this page as often as possible to share news about Cherokee HS PTSA, achievements of the students and staff and any other relevant PTSA information. All users asking to join the group and comments posted on this page are

at the discretion of the group administrators. The group administrators will review all requests to join and postings. People making comments on the page are requested to show respect for their fellow users by ensuring the discussion remains civil. Comments are also subject to Facebook’s Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. Remember that your name and photo will be seen next to your comment, visible to anyone in the group. We welcome your thoughts and comments and look forward to what you have to say. However, we will not leave postings that:
• Contain abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate language or statements. This includes remarks that contain obscenities or are sexually explicit.
• Easily identify students and/or staff in defamatory, abusive, or generally negative terms. If you disagree with the content, we ask that you refrain from personal attacks or being disrespectful of others.
• Do not show proper consideration for others’ privacy or are considered likely to offend or provoke others – i.e. don’t pick fights or goad others into inflammatory debates. Malicious intent and or participation not in the spirit of civil conversation will be excluded.
• Are Off Topic. We will exclude comments not related to the subject of the conversation. If you have a question to ask on a different topic, please contact us via email.
• Are spam – i.e. repeatedly posting the same comment or comments that are simply advertising/promoting a service or product.
• Break the law or encourage others to do so. This includes respecting copyright and fair use laws. If you are talking about somebody else’s work, reference this or the person, and where possible include a link. The group administrators reserve the right to remove any comments at any time, for any reason. Repeat offenders will be removed from the group. If you have feedback or would like to report an inappropriate comment for us to review, send an email or private message to a member of the PTSA Board. All statements and viewpoints expressed in the comments are strictly those of the commenter alone, and do not constitute an official position of the Cherokee HS PTSA unless they are posted by an authorized representative of the Cherokee HS PTSA. Our school district swept the top honors presented by the Georgia PTA to educators, support staff, school leaders, and volunteers for outstanding service to students and their families! Congratulations to Etowah High School Principal Ken Nix, Ball Ground ES STEM Academy Assistant Principal Lauren Roach, teachers Jennie Allen of Ball Ground ES STEM Academy and Sandy Rivera of Knox ES STEM Academy, and school nurse Kristen Kim of Mill Creek MS for earning the highest honors awarded by the Georgia PTA to professionals in each of their roles. The Visionary Awards recognizes schools or individuals for “an above and beyond approach to supporting students, families, and school communities.” Kimberly Forrester, literacy coach for Johnston ES, earned this honor, as did Woodstock Middle School. The awards were presented at the organization’s statewide convention held this summer at Mill Creek Middle School. We’re on a mission to be the highest-performing school district in Georgia where students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

Three school PTA units earned a statewide Hearst Family-School Partnership Award, which is the highest honor presented to units. Cherokee High School won in the recognition area of Welcoming All Families, Little River Elementary School won for Speak Up For Every Child, and Mill Creek Middle School won for Communicate Effectively. Five school PTA units earned statewide Outstanding Local Unit awards: Arnold Mill Elementary School won first place for elementary schools of its size, with Johnson Elementary School placing second; R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy won first place for elementary schools of its size; and Mill Creek Middle School won second place for middle schools. In addition to these state awards, individuals and PTA units also earned District 13 and county awards for excellence. Greetings Warriors!

Reminder that student schedules will be sent out and viewable on StudentVue on July 28 (and not until then). We will then welcome ALL CHS students and families to our walkthrough on July 30. We ask that rising 9th and 10th graders come between 9 until 11 am and that rising 11th and 12th graders come between 1 and 3 pm.

More info to come, but wanted to remind everyone of these key dates and times.
