He’s been known as “Magnus” from our Samba’s Puma | Samba’s Knuckles - 15 puppy litter, but we have found a new name for him… what do you think it should be??

When the Pit Monsters were first brought into the United States and began being recognized (they were absolutely here prior, no one really knew about them though), there was not a class or registry for them in the United States. ABKC, along with the IBC (mother registry of Pit Monster/Brazilian Bulls in Brazil) collaborated together and decided to allow them to be registered HERE as XL American Bullies due to the American Bully being the phenotype that they related to the closest. Because they were registered as XLs, they were allowed to breed to XLs.

Around 2023-ish, 500 breeders in Brazil voted on a new name for the Pit Monster, so that it could become it’s own class of dog due to the uproar from many people on both sides of the fence who did not like the crossing of the two breeds. The dogs became known as Brazilian Bulls and were now able to be registered as such with the ABKC. It really is that simple.

NOW that there is a separation, all I have seen on my social media is them vs us, us vs them, my dog is better than your dog, etc etc etc… as with everything, this has turned into a perpetual dick measuring contest.

Breed to Brazilian dogs or don’t. If you see something that YOU think will improve YOUR yard. Do it. As long as everyone is ethically breeding and making sure they are doing the best by the dogs that they have, then what does it matter what the person next to you is doing?

I have both breeds. I am choosing, based on MY OWN EXPERIENCE and what I have seen with my own eyes, to breed Brazilian. If you don’t agree with that, that’s okay. If you care to ask me why I’ve decided to do so, I’d be happy to chat with you about it.. I have never heard ANYone stating that every single XL is lacking breed type or every single Brazilian Bull is better than any XL… If someone shares something to further educate people on either breed, that’s awesome. None of us should ever become complacent and unwilling to learn. Most of the people throwing shade breed both ways. I never saw being ugly to or about anyone else win a popularity contest, unless those following you are also ugly in their hearts and in that case, it’s not a room I ever want to be in.

Education is the key!
People keep saying, “They’re the same breed.” They’re not.

They share ancestry, but they do not share the same breed standard, breeding goals, or ideal structure.

A breed is defined by generations of selective breeding toward a specific blueprint, not simply by its foundation.

The XL American Bully and the Brazilian Bull Extreme were developed to produce different results, and those differences are obvious when you compare the official standards side by side.

Study the blueprint before making the comparison.
