🌟 Meet Renee Bonari! 🌟

Renee Bonari is a Community Relationship Manager with PSECU, where she focuses on building meaningful partnerships and engagement throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.

In her role, Renee works closely with schools, municipalities, state agencies, and PennWest University to provide financial education, support employee and student engagement, and strengthen relationships within the communities PSECU serves.

Outside of work, Renee brings her creativity and community spirit to two other passions. She serves as a freelance sports photographer for her local newspaper and sings on her church’s worship team.

🌟 Meet Jeff Alvarez! 🌟

Jeff Alvarez, MSN, RN, NE-BC, is the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services at UPMC Washington and UPMC Greene.

With 26 years of nursing experience, Jeff has spent more than two decades in leadership roles across UPMC, helping improve quality outcomes, enhance the patient experience, and develop and support strong healthcare teams.

Jeff began his career at the Cleveland Clinic in the coronary intensive care unit before returning to the Pittsburgh region and joining UPMC in 2005. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC East, and UPMC McKeesport before stepping into his current role.

A board-certified nurse executive, Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and his master’s degree in nursing leadership and education from Carlow University.

His commitment to healthcare leadership has also earned him recognition including an Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service (ACES) and a Cameos of Caring® Advanced Practice Award.

We officially kicked off the 2026–2027 Leadership Washington County Signature Program with an incredible day focused on Orientation, Foundations of Leadership & Kickoff, hosted by Justabout Wealth Management.

The day started with a networking breakfast provided by LaBella Bean in Bridgeville, giving our new class members an opportunity to connect and begin building relationships. A welcome gift was given to each student, sponsored by Jason Avant, COO of ASTAR, Inc.

Our morning continued with introductions by Trish Romano and an overview of Justabout Wealth Management, presented by David Hoffmann, Founder & CEO, followed by an engaging history of Leadership Washington County from Pat O’Brien and an icebreaker led by LWC alumna Missy Harding.

Learning from those who came before them, our new class participated in an alumni panel moderated by LWC Board Member Katie Wilson, featuring alumni Bob Wicker, Sheila Gombita, Anastasia Barr Whitemanrr, and Jason Avant. Their experiences offered valuable insight into the Leadership Washington County journey and the impact of the Signature Program.

Our class also heard from Aliesha Walz and Joann Naser of the Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF), who shared updates and initiatives happening throughout our community.

Goal setting and community impact projects with Eric Chandler and Trish Romano introduced the class to goal-setting and the upcoming community project experience.

We wrapped up an incredible first day with a Kickoff Reception, providing even more time for our participants, alumni, and board members to connect.

This year’s class brings together an incredible group of professionals representing organizations and industries across Washington County and the surrounding region.

As we begin planning new alumni programs, events, and opportunities to reconnect, we're asking our graduates to complete a brief Alumni Survey.
