💛 Important Preschool Dates & Information
We are so excited to welcome our preschool families to McKinley Elementary! As we get ready for the new school year, please take a moment to review these important dates and enrollment requirements.

📅 Important Dates
August 10–14
Your child’s teacher will reach out to you to schedule your family’s orientation time.

August 17
🌟 Orientation: 5:00–6:00 p.m.

August 18
🌟 Orientation: 9:00–10:00 a.m.

August 19–20
Our full-day preschool students will attend a shortened day from 8:30–11:30 a.m. This will give children an opportunity to become familiar with their classroom, teachers, and new routines. Part day students will not attend on these days.

August 24
🎉 All preschool students will begin attending their full scheduled day!

✅ Before Your Child Can Start Preschool
To make sure everything is ready for your child, all of the following must be completed before your child can attend preschool:

4-year-old students: Complete the UPK application online.

3-year-old students: Complete the UPK application on paper, or online if your child has an IEP.

Complete all registration paperwork from in-person registration.

Complete McKinley’s online registration.

Attend one of the scheduled orientation sessions.

Bring your child’s physical appointment card or completed Physical

Make sure your child’s immunizations are up to date and documentation has been provided.

We know there are several steps to complete, and we appreciate your help in getting everything ready before your child’s first day. 💛

Hey, Wildcats!
We just wanted to clarify and correct some communications that went out. Preschool parents, look for a post with important information from Joanne Shudell, McKinley Preschool Director.

First Day of School & Schedules (Grades 1–5)
Wednesday, August 12th: First day of school for Grades 1–5.
Schedule: Half-day only. School begins at 8:35 AM and dismisses at 12:00 PM. Breakfast will be available at 8am. Lunch will not be served.

Kindergarten Transition Schedule-
Individual Transition Days & Teacher Conferences: Kindergarteners will attend on their assigned half-day and participate in their scheduled teacher conference. It was communicated earlier for Kindergarteners to bring their supplies to back-to-school night. Please bring school supplies to your child's designated half day class instead! Sorry for the confusion.

Schedule Assistance: If you need to schedule your kindergartener’s transition day/conference, or if you need a reminder of your assigned time, please call the school office at 719-276-6013.

Back to School Night (Grades K-5)

Date & Time: Tuesday, August 18th, from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
Dinner will be provided!

Wednesday, August 19th: First full day for ALL kindergarten students (8:35 AM – 3:50 PM).

As you are registering your students for school year 2026-2027, don't forget to fill out your annual household income meal application! 📚💵

All meals continue to be FREE for all but this information can help your kids qualify for reduced fees, free home internet, and helps the district capture this information.

To fill this out online - in Infinite Campus Parent Portal - after you register your student - select MORE on the left side of the screen. Then choose the "Meal Benefit" form and you can enter in all your information right there! No need to go to PaySchools Central anymore! 🎉 Only one application per household!

You can also find paper copies of the form during registration and return it to your schools secretary or nutrition services supervisor.

We have officially reached our final look-back post, and it’s the perfect one to close out the school year. On the very last day of school, we gathered together for our K-4th Grade Awards Day! 🏆✨

(Since our 5th graders received their awards at their Continuation ceremony, this day was all about celebrating our rising leaders!)

We are so incredibly proud of all the hard work, academic growth, and amazing character these students showed from August all the way until the final final bell. Watching them cheer each other on was the best reminder of what makes our Wildcat family so special. ❤️🙌

And with that... the book is officially closed on another incredible school year! 📚☀️

Thank you to our teachers, staff, students, and families for making this year one for the history books. Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summer, Wildcats! We will see you in August! 🕶️🍉🍦
