Here is why “Integrity” is one of three core values that guide what we do at Royal Gorge Christian Academy.

Integrity isn’t just a good idea—it’s a worthy and essential core value for a Christian school.

At our K–6 Academy, we believe integrity means living out the truth of God’s Word in both what we say and how we live. It’s about being honest, consistent, and loving God and others even when no one is watching.

Why does it matter so much? Because we’re not just educating minds—we’re shaping hearts. Our students are learning what it looks like to follow Jesus in real life: telling the truth, taking responsibility, and standing firm in what is right.

Integrity builds trust with families, creates a strong and unified school culture, and prepares our students to live out their faith with courage and conviction.

Simply put: if we want to raise children who walk in truth, we must model it every day.

✨ How We Teach History at Royal Gorge Christian Academy ✨

One thing we’re excited about at RGCA is using the classical model to help our students truly understand history. Susan Wise Bauer describes three natural stages of learning, and they line up beautifully with how our students grow.

📚 Grammar Stage (1st-4th grade): Our younger students dive into the rich stories of God’s world—ancient civilizations, heroes of the faith, world‑changing events. At this age, they learn best through narrative, so we fill their days with the stories that shape history.

🧠 Logic Stage (5th-8th grade): As students mature, they naturally start asking deeper questions. This is when they begin connecting events, noticing patterns, and exploring why things happened. History becomes a meaningful, connected story rather than a list of facts.

🗣️ Rhetoric Stage (High School): By the time students reach the upper grades, they’re ready to form and express their own ideas. They learn to evaluate sources, think critically, and communicate their understanding with clarity and confidence.

We love this approach because it honors the way God designed children to learn—step by step, building toward wisdom.

"Excellence", is one of the core values that guides us in all we do at RGCA. This holds true with our curriculum which equips us to offer what we believe is the best learning oppoutunity in Fremont County. So here is a short explantion regarding our choices and the curriculum we have choosen for our 2026/2027 school year.

Our Curriculum
At RGCA, learning is rooted in a Christian worldview and shaped by a blend of Charlotte Mason and Classical education. We believe children flourish when they are invited into a rich feast of ideas, encouraged to wonder, and guided to love what is true, good, and beautiful.

Rather than relying heavily on textbooks, our classrooms come alive through living books, primary sources, maps, hands-on projects, nature study, and meaningful discussion. Students engage with high-quality literature and real stories that spark imagination and deepen understanding. This approach nurtures curiosity, builds strong habits of attention, and helps students form personal connections with what they learn.

Our curriculum is intentionally challenging yet joyful. We draw from the best resources across both educational traditions—Classical structure and rigor paired with Charlotte Mason’s emphasis on delight, narration, and the development of the whole child. Students grow in knowledge and skill, but also in character, discernment, and a lifelong love of learning.

Above all, we aim to cultivate hearts and minds that seek Christ, think deeply, and engage the world with wisdom and grace.

We’ve carefully selected high-quality resources to support this approach: Tapestry of Grace for history and literature, Apologia for science, Dimensions Math, A Reason for Handwriting, First Language Lessons for K–2 grammar and language arts, Winston Grammar for 3rd–4th grade, and University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) Foundations for reading instruction. Together, these tools help us offer a rich, well-rounded education grounded in both excellence and delight.

Our Mission and Educational Philosophy

Our Mission
Royal Gorge Christian Academy (RGCA) exists to provide a Christ-centered, academically rigorous elementary education for families of Freemont County. We are committed to offering a safe, affordable, and nurturing environment where children grow in faith, character, and knowledge. Through high-quality instruction and a strong Biblical foundation, we partner with families to equip students with the skills, curiosity, and confidence they need to thrive and pursue the purpose God has for their lives.

Educational Philosophy
At our RGCA, learning is alive. We blend the best of Charlotte Mason and classical education to create a joyful, challenging curriculum rooted in truth, goodness, and beauty. Instead of relying on textbooks, students explore living books, primary sources, maps, nature, and hands-on projects that spark curiosity and build strong habits of thinking. We’re shaping hearts and minds to love learning and follow Christ with wisdom and wonder.
