Canisteo-Greenwood Central School

Canisteo-Greenwood Central School Welcome to the official Canisteo-Greenwood Central School page! A Board of Education of seven members oversees the operation of the district.

The Canisteo-Greenwood School District encompasses 100 square miles and 11 townships in Steuben and Allegany County. They are the towns of Canisteo, Bath, Greenwood, Hartsville, Hornellsville, Howard, Jasper, Rexville, Andover, Troupsburg, and West Union. Regular education and special education are offered to 1000 students in Pre-K through grade 12. The district, which merged in 2004, educates its

students in two buildings: Canisteo-Greenwood Elementary School, and the Canisteo-Greenwood High School. The Canisteo-Greenwood Elementary School has approximately 500 students with a new science lab, art room, two music rooms (band and chorus), 10,000 square foot gymnasium and new athletic fields. The school has a swimming pool and students in grades 2-4 receive instruction in swimming. The library has over 10,000 books and is equipped with the latest computer technology. The Canisteo-Greenwood High School has a new TV media classroom, foreign language hookups, and a renovated 600-seat auditorium. Canisteo-Greenwood’s 450 ninth through twelfth grade students have many opportunities to experience academic excellence and success through the varied state accredited programs offered. Every student is provided a laptop for their schoolwork and projects. We are proud to announce that the high school has been designated as one of the nation’s top high schools by the US News and World Report for 4 consecutive years. As a result of our current capital project, all our schools have wireless networking. In addition, every classroom is equipped with Interactive boards. Our buildings have enhanced security with 360 degree internal and external camera coverage and either card or intercom access. This past summer, work was done to equip every instructional space in the building with air conditioning. New York State’s Commitment to higher standards will eventually challenge all students by having them take Regents in the subjects of Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. Canisteo-Greenwood offers a variety of courses to include Regents, Advance Placement and ACE (accelerated college education), as well as a myriad of remedial and BOCES programs. Collectively, the District provides quality programs for all students. Graduates can and do pursue varieties of vocational aspirations.
