🚜 Calling All Canadian FFA Alumni & Ag Supporters! 🐑

We're launching a Canadian FFA Alumni & Supporters Chapter — and we want YOU involved!

Whether you're a former FFA member, ag booster, industry partner, or just someone who believes in what agricultural education does for our kids, this chapter is for you. Alumni chapters help:

✅ Support FFA activities and ag ed at the local level
✅ Connect former members back to the program
✅ Bring extra hands, talent, and resources to our students
✅ Advocate for agricultural education in our community

Canadian FFA was represented well at the 98th Texas FFA State Convention this week!

Started off the week with Kenzi Willimas as our Senior Foundation Ambassador, Easton Jones as our Junior Foundation Ambassador and Trevor Powell as our Area I FFA Officer.

Then we had Tyson Orrell presenting his AgriScience Fair project where he finished in the top 8 followed by the Teach Ag Team made up of Wyatt Connor, Easton Jones, Hollis Poe and Trevor Powell who finished up as the top 19th team.

Kenzi Williams and Finnten Neumeier were awarded their Lone Star Degrees - this is the highest achieving degrees they can earn at the state level.

Bridger Burrus performed at Fun Night with talent, and boy did he put on a show even after a slight hiccup and having to switch guitars while on stage!

Of course we had to throw a little bit of fun in the mix by meeting so many chapters from all over the state from Top of Texas to the Tip ot Texas.

Noggler and Swaff are beyond proud of the accomplishments earned by all of the Canadian FFA Chapter members for the 2025-2026 year. Next year will be even better - we're just getting started!

Canadian ISD Agricultural Education is proud to announce that Jaxon Arthur has been selected as one of only 20 high school students nationwide to attend the 2026 NextGen Welding Camp at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, June 28–July 3, 2026.

Jaxon's selection is a remarkable achievement. More than 500 students from across the country applied for this highly competitive program, making its acceptance rate less than four percent. He is among a select group of student who will represent the future of the welding and skilled trades industries.

The NextGen Welding Camp is made possible through a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, awarded to Texas State faculty member Dr. Ryan Anderson. The camp is part of the Women and Minorities in Welding (WAM WELD) initiative, a three-year program designed to increase representation in the welding industry and connect students with college and career opportunities in agricultural mechanics and skilled trades.

All camp expenses are covered through support from the USDA and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, with the exception of travel to and from San Marcos. Participants will receive hands-on welding instruction, exposure to American Welding Society certification standards, and access to college and career exploration opportunities in the field.

This is exactly the kind of opportunity that opens doors. Jaxon earned this. Out of hundreds of applicants, he stood out — and that reflects the hard work he puts in every day in the shop. Jaxon's selection brings well-deserved recognition to Canadian ISD and the Wildcat Welding program, and serves as an example of what is possible for students who pursue excellence in agricultural mechanics and the skilled trades.

I'm not sure where to even start with the amount of pride running through Swafford and Noggler's bones for the work, effort and talent that Canadian FFA has put in throughout this year. Just wow!!! This week has been extraordinary to say the least. Thursday we had the first round of Area Officer interviews. Area speaking events followed suit on Friday and the remainder of Area Convention today. We are beyond proud of each and every one of our members, their families, admin and community members that have shown up and supported us this year - and we're not done yet!

What else can we ask for? These kids are amazing, and we left more of them at home this trip! This State CDE trip was definitely one for the record books, Noggler and Swaff couldn't be more proud of the try in everyone.

Canadian FFA Competes at Area 1 CDEs, Qualifies Four Teams to State

3 days and over 1200 miles traveled for Area CDEs, the Canadian FFA Chapter sent all four competing teams to the Texas FFA State Career Development Events (CDEs) after qualifying at Area 1 competition. Teams competed in Homesite Evaluation and Land Evaluation on April 8 at Tarleton State University’s Area CDEs, followed by Range and Wildlife on April 9 at the Area 1 Qualifying Range & Wildlife CDE at Palo Duro Canyon. The top four teams in each event advance to state competition during the week of April 20.

Range Evaluation — 1st Place Team

Canadian’s Range team finished 1st out of 10 teams with a score of 1,757 — more than 300 points ahead of second-place Clarendon (1,410). Additionally, Canadian students claimed the top four individual spots in the entire Area 1 field:

Bridger Burrus — 2nd Place (586)
Jackson Poe — 3rd Place (578)
Parker Burrus — 4th Place (506)

Homesite Evaluation — 1st Place Team

The Canadian Homesite team also captured a 1st place finish out of 16 teams, posting a combined score of 1,071. Leading the way were two Canadian students who tied for the individual area title:

Josue Martinez — 1st Place (tied, 367)
Finn Neumeier — 1st Place (tied, 367)
Daniel Jimenez — 10th Place (337)
Alan Chavez — 20th Place (296)

Wildlife Evaluation — 4th Place Team

Canadian’s Wildlife team secured its state spot with a 4th place finish out of 17 teams, scoring 269 points. Individual standouts included:

Trevor Powell — 9th Place (93)
JW Coffee — 14th Place (83)
Hollis Poe — 18th Place (77)

Land Evaluation — 4th Place Team

The Land Evaluation team grabbed the final qualifying spot with a 4th place finish out of 13 teams at the Tarleton State Area CDEs, scoring 605:
