Kelsey Hardy Joins Mascoma Coaching Staff, Will Lead Girls Basketball Program.

Superintendent Amanda Isabelle and Athletic Director Stephen Stebbins share that Kelsey Hardy will join the Mascoma Regional High School athletics program as girls varsity basketball head coach.

Hardy comes to Mascoma from neighboring Lebanon High School, where she has served as both basketball and soccer coach for the junior varsity teams.

“I look forward to building relationships with these young women and with members of the Mascoma community,” Hardy said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to be a source of guidance and support to these student-athletes and help them perform at their best.”

Hardy has taught English at the high school level. She currently works in child care and family support. She also consults parents seeking support for children with specific behavioral and educational needs.

Kelsey plays basketball in a men’s pick up league and trains in Muay Thai kickboxing. She writes non-fiction, poetry and music, and enjoys singing and playing acoustic guitar.

She is the parent of a third grader who loves sports and looks forward to rooting on the Mascoma Royals this season.

Mascoma Valley Regional School District is pleased to share the appointment of Josh Kershaw as the high school's new Head Varsity Football Coach, bringing him back to the program where his coaching career first began.

Kershaw started his career as an assistant football coach under his father, Ray Kershaw, from 2011 to 2013. He helped lead the Royals to their first-ever playoff appearance and a trip to the 2012 New Hampshire State Championship game.

In 2013, Kershaw was selected to serve on the coaching staff for the New Hampshire Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, where Team New Hampshire delivered a 43-0 victory over Vermont.

Following his time at Mascoma, Kershaw contributed to several successful high school football programs throughout New Hampshire. He brings with him a mission to foster a strong team culture and a desire to help athletes both on and off the field.

Most recently, Kershaw served on the coaching staff at John Stark Regional High School in Weare, helping guide the team to consecutive Division II quarterfinal appearances.

In 2025, Kershaw was the recipient of the Big New England Football Clinic (BNEFC) High School Assistant Coach of Distinction Award for the state of New Hampshire.

Outside of coaching, Kershaw is a special education teacher who enjoys fishing and exploring New Hampshire with his two dogs, Cooper and Caleb.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Kershaw back to Mascoma and to have him lead our football program," said Athletic Director Stephen Stebbins. "He is an excellent educator and mentor for our student-athletes, and someone who is committed to building a program that our school and community can be proud to support."

Longtime Coach Shannon Gould to Lead
Mascoma Girls Soccer Program.

Shannon Gould will lead the Mascoma Royals Girls Varsity Soccer team for the 2026-27 season.

Mascoma Valley Regional High School will welcome veteran coach Shannon Gould to lead the Royals Girls Varsity Soccer team for the 2026-27 season.

Gould comes to Mascoma from Oxbow High School in Bradford, Vt., where she was named Northern Vermont Athletic Conference Mountain Coach of the Year last fall.

“I am excited to join MVRHS after nearly 30 years of coaching. I am thrilled to become part of the Mascoma community and look forward to building a positive and competitive program while helping student-athletes grow as players, teammates, leaders and young adults,” Gould said. “The best teams that I’ve coached weren’t defined by talent alone; they were defined by their culture, work ethic and belief in each other.”

Gould began her coaching career at Sunapee High School, where she helped start the girls varsity soccer program. In 1998, she was named the N.H. Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

She also has coached at Lebanon High School, leading them to their only state title in 2010, and at Randolph Union High School in Randolph, Vt.

"Coach Gould has had success everywhere she has coached," Athletic Director Stephen Stebbins said. "Beyond wins and losses, she has the leadership qualities and commitment to student-athlete development that match Mascoma's values. We are confident she will lead the Royals to a new chapter of excellence."

Gould will be moving to Canaan in the coming months.

Justin is from Canaan and recently graduated from Mascoma Regional High and will be representing the New Hampshire Shrine Bowl team in the 73rd Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game. Justin will be wearing #7 and playing QB/DB Justin, after graduation, will be attending New England College with studies in Sports Management. When you see, Justin please thank him for his dedication to football and his community.
