How do you get your ice cream coupon tonight? Here is where you can pick up your coupon. Be sure to visit all of your students classrooms too!

We also welcome you to visit a space that has gone under alot of renovation this spring/summer. Thanks to several different grants, the space that was once known by staff and students as; The Home Ec Room, The Health Classroom and or The Consumer Science Room has been remodeled. We are so excited for what this classroom will bring for opportunities to our students. The EPIC program has many programs in the works one of which is a NEW program for students in grades 7-12. The EPIC Lounge will be open starting September 14th on Monday, Wednesday's and Thursday's.

Dear Canaan School District Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful summer and are enjoying these last days before school gets underway. We’re excited for the year ahead and look forward to welcoming our students back!

As school gets started, we wanted to share a few quick reminders.
Vermont’s New Cell Phone Policy

Vermont has new requirements for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day. Schools are now required to have policies limiting the use of these devices from arrival through dismissal, with some exceptions.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact their school office rather than relying on their cell phone. For specific reasons, there are exceptions

A Few Other Reminders
● Attendance: Regular attendance and being on time make a big difference. Please follow your child’s school procedures for reporting absences.
● School Calendars: Canaan Schools Choice schools have different calendars and schedules. Please refer to your child’s school calendar for important dates throughout the year.
● Contact Information: Please make sure your contact and emergency information is current with your Canaan school.
● Stay Connected: Keep an eye on emails and other communications from your child’s school for updates and important information.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The fifth grade students will once again have the opportunity to participate in the Therapy Dogs of Vermont program this school year. Families whose children attended fourth grade in Canaan last year may remember this program, as well as the therapy dog, Maggie.
For families who are new to the program, Maggie is a certified Therapy Dogs of Vermont and a friendly Border Collie mix. She will be accompanied at all times by her owner and handler while at school.
Maggie is scheduled to begin visiting the school during the first week of classes and will typically be present a few days each week. While she will primarily be in the fifth grade classroom, she may also be seen in common areas such as the hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, and front office.
Research has shown that therapy dogs can provide emotional support, help reduce stress, and promote a positive learning environment for students. We are excited to continue offering this opportunity to our fifth grade students.
If you have any questions, concerns, allergies, or other considerations related to Maggie's presence at school, please contact either Miss Saari or me no later than August 31, 2026.

This group offers a supportive space for adoptive and guardianship caregivers to share the challenges and successes they experience while raising youth across developmental stages. Caregivers have the opportunity to connect with others who have shared experiences, gain support, and exchange strategies in a welcoming environment.

Please feel free to share this opportunity widely with families and community partners who may benefit. Contact information for referrals and questions is included on the flyer.
