Air Force JROTC cadets from Lakeview Jr/Sr High School completed Bossier Parish's 7-day Cadet Leadership Course at Grambling State University this past week. This course was comprised of 140 cadets from 14 schools across 4 states. This 24/7 intensive course exposed cadets to new leadership and followership opportunities. The course is designed to put cadets outside their comfort zone so they have the opportunity to learn how to lead and follow under pressure. The week was packed with various events including classroom academics, water survival, physical fitness, drill & ceremonies, outdoor field events, a rappelling tower, an obstacle course through the woods, and more.
Every minute of their week was scripted from the moment they woke up at 5:00 am until 9:30 pm.

The week concluded with a military parade and graduation ceremony. Not only were 3 Lakeview cadets front and center on the Color Guard for the parade, Lakeview students earned several awards for their superior efforts during the course to include 2 Honor Graduates which placed them in the top 10% of all cadets in the course.

Awards banquet was a great time to showcase our cadets' successes this year. We gave out both local and national awards to some deserving cadets who will shape our country's future. It was also a sad time to have to say goodbye to our seniors who have done so much for our community. Watching them grow over the last 4 years has been wonderful. Integrity, Service, Excellence.

Four of our Lakeview Cadets completed the 7-day Bossier Parish summer Cadet Leadership Course this past week. Cadets Brody Guin, Laryah Hubbard, Landon Nealy, and Peyton Sanders all made it through this mentally and physically tough week. Also in attendance were schools not only from Louisiana but Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
The cadets started their day at 5AM with reveille followed by physical training. Then, they spent the rest of their day attending various seminars and experiencing other events which helped push them outside of their comfort zone. They learned life-saving water survival skills, learned about various career opportunities, completed an obstacle course, and even repelled down a tower.
We also sent a previous graduate, Emy Sorto-Cortez back to help run the course as a Cadet Training Officer. Not only did she learn valuable leadership traits, she was awarded the top Cadet Training Officer award ( #1 of 20) by the senior staff for her efforts.

A great day at Little Rock Air Force Base. Cadets had the opportunity to hear the Mission Briefing, learn about Individual chemical Protection Equipment, and have a hands on tactical gear demonstration all before lunch.
At lunch they they got to hear from 5 Company Grade Officers from different career fields and ask questions about their experiences and listen to their advice about transition into life.
After lunch they got to see a K-9 demonstration, go to the top of the Air Traffic Control and see all the moving parts to managing an airfield and controlling the air space. The visit culminated with a walkthrough of a C-130J aircraft.
