Honor's Banquet 2017: "Education is the Key"

During our banquet, we heard from former graduate Katie Cahill about her Master's studies at the University of Greenwich in England via Google Hangouts. We also had NHS member Bryce Farmer share about a service project to New Life International last fall. New members were inducted into both the Junior National Honor Society and National Honor Society. It was a pleasure to recognize the hard work of so many students from West Washington!

Yesterday, NHS members went to Wonder Valley with Junior NHS members to work on some team building and leadership skills activities. Here's a peak at some of what we did!

The students worked hard to get a grant from the Washington County Community Foundation to paint a mural and put up sun shelter at the women's shelter in Salem. They worked really hard on three separate work days this summer and the end result was awesome! A lot of fun was had by all! (Obviously took way too long to get pictures up, but better late than never!) Thanks to all the students who helped out. It was especially impressive that we had recent graduates help out too. I know this is fairly last minute, but at this point I'm planning on having a work day at the women's shelter to finish the mural and chalk board this Saturday if we are able to get enough help. If you could message Dr. Pickens to let her know if you are available that would be great!
