Congratulations to my friend President Robert Vela and the entire Texas A&M University-Kingsville community on this well-deserved recognition.

I was especially honored and privileged to see that Texas A&M-Kingsville and East Texas A&M tied for No. 1 in the Texas A&M University System for social mobility in this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Our universities serve different parts of this great state, but we share an important responsibility: helping hardworking students turn their ambition and determination into opportunity for themselves, their families and their communities.

Proud of what our Javelina and Lion families are accomplishing. Congratulations, President Vela, and Go Javelinas!!

Hey Lions!! We are losing a good one. Our Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Brent Donham, has decided to ride off into the sunset with a well-earned retirement. I would like to personally thank Brent for being such a great colleague and friend over the years. And, I would like to thank the many folks who showed up today at Dr. Donham's going away party. He will be greatly missed.
