🇺🇸 Today, DOWEA DeLalio Elementary School aboard MCAS New River recognized our heroes and remembered those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

Our Marine Corps Air Station New River families and community partners came together to provide a special 9/11 Heroes Salute for our students. We were honored to welcome our Game Wardens, Crash Fire Rescue, PMO, Fire Department, paramedics, and the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you to all our first responders for your service, courage, and dedication to keeping our military families and community safe. We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙

Join us for the Military Academies Fair tonight from 5:30–8:00 PM at the Eastern North Carolina Regional Skills Center!

⚖️ TEENS — WANT TO STEP INTO THE COURTROOM? ⚖️

Here’s a unique volunteer opportunity for our middle and high school students!

Onslow County Teen Court is currently recruiting students in grades 6–12 to volunteer and gain hands-on experience with the judicial process.

Teen volunteers can serve in real courtroom roles, including:
⚖️ Prosecutors & Defense Attorneys
👩‍⚖️ Jury Members
📋 Court Clerks
🔨 Bailiffs

Students also have the opportunity to learn from judges, attorneys, and other legal professionals while building valuable skills in public speaking, teamwork, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning.

📅 Next Volunteer Training: September 17 from 5:00pm-8:00pm

This is a great opportunity for teens interested in law, government, leadership, public service, or simply making a difference in their community!

🇺🇸 MILITARY CHILD OF THE YEAR® NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN! 🇺🇸

Military families, educators, mentors, and community members — do you know an outstanding military teen who deserves to be recognized?

Operation Homefront’s Military Child of the Year® Awards recognize military children who demonstrate resilience, strength of character, and the ability to thrive through the unique challenges of military life.

⭐ WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?
Military teens ages 13–18

⭐ WHO CAN NOMINATE?
A parent, teacher, mentor, or guardian

⭐ NOMINATION PERIOD:
📅 September 2 – December 1, 2026

⭐ WHAT DO RECIPIENTS RECEIVE?
Award recipients receive a $10,000 cash award, a laptop, and a trip to Washington, D.C. with a parent or guardian for a 3-night stay.

The Awards Gala will be held in Washington, D.C. in April 2027 during the Month of the Military Child.
