Sac High Class of '72 - Reunion

Sad to report that our classmate, George E. Coles passed away on Feb 24, 2026 after a sudden stroke. We heard from his cousin Toni Purdie-Burns that his visitation will be tomorrow the 13th from 1-3pm at Morgan and Jones Funeral Home at 4200 Broadway. Below are pictures from his high school days and last year. He will be missed.

Somehow a post has gone out purporting to be from the Class of '72 featuring alumni t-shirts. It's spam. It is not coming from our committee. We do have T-shirts left over from the last reunion for purchase, but these are not them. Proceed with caution.

For those of you who are interested, according to Nadia's husband Marty, Nadia's Funeral will be held on Wednesday September 17th, 2025 at the Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church at 8700 Bradshaw Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624, for the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Rosary at 11 am with the funeral Mass following at noon. Nadia requested that people please dress in bright colors.

I regret that I have to make another post about a classmate passing. Nadia Alexandra (Barbara Ryder in High School) passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. As of today, there has been no obituary published and no information about services. When the information is available I will post it. Nadia was a lovely person and always willing to help with the reunions. She did not attend the last few due to family obligations and her illness so I'm posting her yearbook picture and a picture from the 30 yr reunion. Hope to have more information soon.

Sad to report that we have lost another classmate, William "Willie" Daniel Stonebraker on June 7, 2025. His obit was not published until Aug 5th and unfortunately we were only notified yesterday so the memorial service had already taken place.
He passed away at UC Davis Hospital in Sacramento. He was 70. He is survived by his son Christopher Daniel Stonebraker and brother Herb Stonebraker.
A memorial service was held on his 71st birthday, August 16, 2025, at 12 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center, Holy Family East Lawn, Sacramento.
Pictures below are from the 72 yearbook and his obit. I remember him as something of a rebel in high school, but as an interesting and nice guy in later years at the reunions. RIP

Sad to report another passing. Leonard Merritt died August 11, 2024. I've been waiting for an obituary, but haven't found one. Attaching a picture from high school and a current one. He will be missed by friends and family alike.

Sad to report that we've had another death in our Sac High family. We were just notified that Jerry Welch (Griffin) passed away on 11-23-2023. His obit was published in the Sac Bee, but only mentions the location of services. Jerry was well liked in high school, played on the baseball team and was Student Body President, Spring of our Senior Year. He will be missed. Posting his yearbook pic and a picture from the 45 year reunion.

Sad to report that our classmate Isabel Quezada La Valle passed away on Jan 21, 2024. She was a good friend to the Class of '72 coming to many reunions and fundraising bus trips and will be sorely missed by her many close friends. See obituary in the comments below. Also, I'm attaching the handout from her Celebration of Life, along with her picture from high school. RIP
