Beyond proud of The Middle❤️💙🦅

Mitchell County Middle School and Mitchell County High School stand proud today, honored as 2025 Beating the Odds Schools by the Georgia Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. This prestigious recognition is awarded to schools that outperform expectations and achieve exceptional academic success when compared to similar schools across the state.

And we are humbled and grateful, continuing to learn,
knowing that while recognition is an honor, our greatest reward is the growth we share along with our students, and the progress we make together.

Thank you to our students, faculty and staff! Job well done❤️💙🦅

We hope you are enjoying a fun, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break.

To our rising ninth graders: your time at The Middle may be ending, but a new adventure is just beginning. You have already visited the high school—now get ready to soar as freshmen!

During the Parade of Champions, children raced to collect tossed goodies and sweets. School groups and community organizations on floats, in cars, and on foot passed cheers along the parade route like batons in a relay race being passed from runner to runner. The community lined the streets and beamed with joy, like fans on the sidelines of that championship meet witnessing The MCHS Track and Field Team win their third State Championship in a row. The MCHS Track and Field Team made history, made memories, and made Mitchell County proud.

There is something about a traditional Southern breakfast. One with grits, butter, and bacon. One at school. One shared with your friends, administrators, and teachers. One before your graduation.
The smell of bacon filled the room. Between plates of warm food and juice, memories were being made. Then came the announcements of the class superlatives, bringing cheers, laughter, and smiles. This was more than a breakfast. It was a pause in time. A final exhale before tassels were turned and childhood began slipping into memory.
Around those tables sat future middle school graduates, one day high school graduates, college graduates, future nurses, teachers, athletes, entrepreneurs, soldiers, and leaders, but in that moment, they were just kids enjoying breakfast.

The school library on the last days of school was a wonderful place to be. There was pizza, Capri sun, cursive writing, great visitors, and the joyful preparation of Summer Reading Bags. We enjoyed getting them ready to head home with students, and the cute bags were perfect for them to take to the park or on the family vacation. The library was filled not only with books, but with excitement for the adventures waiting to be discovered between the pages all summer long.
