📚 Fiction or nonfiction? Our Cardinals are learning to look for the clues!

During library time with Ms. Reynolds, second graders in Ms. Gulley’s class explored the differences between fiction and nonfiction and practiced identifying characteristics of each. Recognizing different types of texts helps students know what to expect as readers and how to find information more effectively.

đź”  Learning letters is even more fun when you can move!

Ms. Miller’s kindergarteners spent time together on the carpet practicing letters while also getting some of those kindergarten wiggles out. Movement, repetition, and active participation help our youngest Cardinals stay engaged as they build early literacy skills.

🫶 Learning takes many forms in kindergarten!

Ms. Cook’s students strengthened their fine motor skills as they built and created with LEGOs, giving those little hands important practice with grasping, placing, and manipulating small pieces.

They also used “Think, Pair, Share” to practice thinking independently, talking through ideas with a partner, and sharing with the class. Two different lessons, both building skills our kindergarteners will use all year long!

🎵 Our kindergarteners are becoming sound detectives!

Mrs. McJoy’s students listened closely for beginning sounds, practiced phonics, and circled the letters that matched the first sounds they heard. Nursery rhymes give young learners a fun, familiar way to hear and play with the sounds that make up words.

Learning and skill-building are happening in every corner of FES!

Students in Coach Center’s class worked together on activities designed to strengthen teamwork and fine motor skills, building coordination, focus, and confidence along the way. 🤝

🥳 We also have to give a special Cardinal shoutout to one of Coach Center’s students who had safe hands all day last Tuesday! He’s proud of himself, and we’re proud too! We love to see our Cardinals working hard, making good choices, and celebrating progress!

💻 Meanwhile, students in Coach Houston’s Chromebook Lab practiced keyboard skills and letter recognition through interactive typing activities. Students are learning where letters are located on the keyboard while building the foundational technology skills they’ll use throughout their education.

Different classrooms, different activities, one goal: Learning for All! ❤️🤍
