The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching Executive Director, Dr. Womble, recognized Amanda Forbes, Agriculture Education teacher at Camden Middle School, for her selection as a finalist for the NCCAT 2027 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award at Camden County Board of Education’s August 13th meeting.

Dr. Womble shared it was his privilege to recognize Ms. Forbes, highlighting her exceptional contributions to CTE and her impact on students and the community here in Camden County.

Also in attendance for the recognition was Karen McPherson of NC DPI (and former CCS teacher) and two former CTE Teachers of the Year.

Nearly 100 CCS employees, Camden Sheriff’s Department deputies, Camden EMS, and district staff and law enforcement from across North Carolina spent the past two days training together on the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Method, in partnership with the I Love U Guys Foundation and Raptor Technologies.

We are proud of our continued commitment to keeping our students and staff safe.
